Trina Solar Secures 50MW Module Order
2025-10-23 14:01

According to media reports, Trina Solar has signed a module supply agreement with Malaysian renewable energy developer Mestron Energy. Under the agreement, Trina Solar will provide Mestron Energy with 50MW of photovoltaic modules.

Por Teong Eng, Managing Director of Mestron Energy, stated: “Partnering with Trina Solar presents an exceptional opportunity to support renewable energy development in Malaysia and across ASEAN. We believe the significant expansion of solar installations will substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to building a sustainable future.”

Malaysia's energy mix remains heavily reliant on fossil fuels. Data from think tank Ember indicates that in 2024, only 19% of the country's electricity came from low-carbon sources, with solar and wind projects accounting for just 2%.

However, Malaysia has announced several major projects so far this year, including a 1.5 GW portfolio of solar-plus-storage projects backed by global investment firm Brookfield. Trina Solar also noted that its collaboration with Mestron Energy reflects the country's “growing demand for corporate renewable energy solutions.”
