On September 21, the Jiaxing Ecology and Environment Bureau issued an announcement regarding the proposed approval of a technical transformation project for high-efficiency new-structure solar cells and modules by Zhejiang Jinko Solar Co., Ltd.

According to the announcement, the project is located in Haining City, Zhejiang Province. JinkoSolar plans to invest 1.792 billion yuan to carry out technical transformations using its existing factory buildings. The project primarily focuses on equipment upgrades and process adjustments for the current solar cell and module production lines, while simultaneously improving relevant supporting infrastructure.

Currently, the factory site boasts an annual production capacity of 6 GW for crystalline silicon solar cells and 6 GW for solar modules, totaling 12 GW. Once this technical upgrade is completed, the facility's capacity will be adjusted to an annual output of 2.7 GW of high-efficiency new-structure solar cells and 4 GW of modules, bringing the total to 6.7 GW. The site will also retain its research and development capabilities for solar cells.

In terms of specific operational changes, the project will implement equipment and process adjustments across various cell production stages, including texturing, diffusion, etching, cleaning, coating, and screen printing. Furthermore, it involves the upgrading of module production equipment and the digitalization of the production lines, accompanied by synchronized adjustments to relevant environmental protection facilities.

At present, the project remains in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval stage. The subsequent construction details and actual production capacity will be subject to the final official approval documents and the practical implementation of the project.
