Jiangyin Company Announces 2GW High-Efficiency HJT Solar Cell Upgrade Project!
2025-06-23 16:05

On June 20, the Administrative Committee of the Lingang Economic Development Zone in Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, issued an announcement regarding the proposed approval of a 2GW high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) solar cell production line upgrading project.

The technical upgrade involves utilizing the existing 320 m² space in Workshop No. 5 to install seven sets of tin-plating equipment and adjust the production line layout. The main goal is to add a tin-plating process to the current cell production line—specifically plating tin onto the exposed copper surfaces of the electrodes to prevent copper from reacting with air, thereby improving the stability of copper-plated solar cells.

Upon completion, the production capacity of the upgraded line will remain unchanged at 2GW of high-efficiency HJT solar cells per year. The total capacity of the plant will continue to be 2GW annually, along with an annual R&D capacity of 72,000 high-efficiency solar cells.

The project is located at No. 333 Yangzi Avenue, Huangtu Town, Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, and is being developed by CNBM (Jiangyin) Optoelectronic Materials Technology Co., Ltd. The total investment for the upgrade is RMB 3 million. On June 6, 2025, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) acceptance notice was publicly announced by the local administrative committee.

Reportedly, the high-efficiency HJT cell project by CNBM (Jiangyin) began construction in January 2023, with a total planned investment of RMB 5 billion. Phase I, with an investment of RMB 1.8 billion, includes the construction of new high-efficiency cell manufacturing plants and an R&D building, with a total floor area of approximately 80,000 square meters.

According to public records, CNBM (Jiangyin) Optoelectronic Materials Technology Co., Ltd. was established in March 2022 with a registered capital of RMB 500 million. Its main business includes the manufacturing and sales of photovoltaic equipment and components, as well as solar power technology services. The company is a second-tier subsidiary of China National Building Material Group (CNBM), which holds 100% ownership through its subsidiary CNBM Jushi Technology Co., Ltd.
