Annual Production Capacity of 1GW! Another PV Module Factory in North America Commences Construction

According to Official Ammount @PVTechCN, according to foreign media reports, Solx, an international photovoltaic module manufacturer, has announced the construction of a solar module manufacturing plant in the former Hewlett-Packard industrial park in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The planned production capacity of the plant is 1GW.

Solx stated that the total investment of the project is expected to be $64 million, and $25 million has been invested in the ongoing first-phase construction.

The company emphasized its “100% locally owned and operated, with no foreign interests involved” character and said that more than 200 local jobs will be created during the construction phase of the plant, which is expected to generate more than 600 jobs in the logistics, supply chain and ancillary industries.

The plant is scheduled to be completed and commercially operational by August 2025 and will be equipped with a state-of-the-art, semi-automated module assembly line with a capacity of 1GW per year, according to the report.In March 2025, Solx signed a cooperation agreement with Origami Solar for the supply of steel frames for its Puerto Rico-produced modules, which can be adapted to the large-size G12 modules.
