According to foreign media reports, Meyer Burger's heterojunction module factory in Goodyear, Arizona, USA has passed the UL testing standards and audits and is starting production. The factory will become the first large-scale heterojunction module factory in the United States.

It is reported that this is also the first new factory after Meyer Burger transferred its core production capacity from Germany to the United States. At present, the batteries of this factory are supplied by Meyer Burger's German production base.

At present, Meyer Burger has signed multiple heterojunction module orders in the United States, including energy suppliers, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies, etc. According to Meyer Burger's plan, the company will complete the order and receive payment in the middle of the third quarter.

In addition, according to foreign media reports, Meyer Burger also plans to build a solar cell factory in Colorado, but the production date depends on the Section 45X financing stipulated in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). A large US bank has completed the financing review and is currently negotiating a loan agreement.

Not only that, Meyer Burger has also signed a 1.8GW heterojunction module order with a large US energy company. According to the agreement, from 2026, 600MW of module orders will be purchased from Meyer Burger every year, with a two-year extension option. Meyer Burger said that the agreement will be launched once the financing of the Colorado Springs solar cell factory is completed.

It is worth mentioning that although this factory is the first heterojunction module factory in the United States, it will not be the only one. In addition to Meyer Burger this time, two more heterojunction factories will be put into production in the United States this year.

In the first half of the year, a 5GW large heterojunction factory will be put into production.

The factory was announced by Revkor Energy Holdings of the United States and H2 Gemini Technology Consulting, a German industrial equipment supplier, in July last year. The two giants will build a 20GW solar heterojunction cell and module factory in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

According to previous plans, the first phase of the project with a capacity of 5GW will be put into production in the second quarter of 2024, and an annual capacity of 25GW will be achieved by the end of 2025.

Another is 3Sun, which is scheduled to be put into production in the second half of the year. 3Sun's parent company is the Italian energy giant Enel. In November 2022, Enel announced that it will build a new 3GW bifacial heterojunction module and battery factory in the United States through 3Sun, and plans to expand subsequent production capacity to 6GW.

According to previous plans, the factory will start construction in the first half of 2023 and be put into production by the end of 2024.
