Local Chinese news media reported on March 25 that Qingdian Group has commenced construction on a base located in the Southern Circular Economy Industrial Park of the Hami High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. According to the reporting by the local media, the project site is bustling with activities. The development zone is within China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This project is being developed by Qingdian Silicon, a subsidiary of Qingdian Group.
The base being constructed by Qingdian Group is designed to have a production capacity of 400,000 tons per year for industrial silicon materials, 200,000 tons per year for polysilicon, and 60GW per year for mono-Si wafers. The total investment in the project is estimated to reach RMB 9 billion. Currently, phase 1 of the project is under construction, which comprises 100,000 tons per year of production capacity for polysilicon and 10GW per year of production capacity for mono-Si wafers. The investment in phase 1 is estimated at RMB 4 billion, and the mono-Si wafer production line is expected to be completed by mid-2023.
Established in 2016, Qingdian Group focuses on four areas: clean energy, silicon-based materials, environmental protection solutions, and advanced agriculture. The company's technological innovations support the Chinese government's goal of capping and reducing carbon emissions.
