According to EnergyTrend, the industrialization of solid-state battery projects has been advancing recently. A 0.5 GW solid-state cell project with Baidu’s participation is planned to settle in Dalian, while Sungrow’s semi-solid battery industrial park has signed an agreement to locate in Xingtai. Both projects are scheduled to kick off construction or trial production in 2027.
Baidu-backed 0.5 GW Solid-State Cell Project Proposed for Dalian
On October 13, Kuaijie Group held discussions with representatives from Dalian China-UK Industrial Park Development Co., Ltd., Tianjin Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Baidu to explore cooperation on solid-state fast-charging batteries for light electric vehicles.
The parties have reached a preliminary consensus to build the first-phase 0.5 GW solid-state cell production line and solid-state battery PACK project in Dalian, and develop the upstream and downstream industrial chain in the medium term. Construction of the production line is set to start in H1 2027.
Baidu is a technology company focused on artificial intelligence. Its autonomous ride-hailing platform Apollo Go ranks among the world’s leading robotaxi service providers, with operations covering 28 cities globally and accumulated autonomous driving mileage exceeding 350 million kilometers.
Kuaijie Group, full name Zhejiang Kuaijie Technology Group, is a high-tech enterprise specializing in battery manufacturing and new energy technologies. The group concentrates on the R&D of next-generation solid-state lithium-ion batteries, aiming to address pain points of conventional liquid lithium-ion batteries such as energy density and safety, and drive battery technology upgrades toward higher energy density, improved safety and longer cycle life.
Sungrow’s Semi-solid Battery Industrial Park Lands in Xingtai
On October 15, the CPC Xingtai Municipal Committee and Xingtai Municipal Government of Hebei Province held work talks with Sungrow Energy Development Co., Ltd. Sungrow has signed an agreement with Xingtai Economic & Technological Development Zone to build an optical lens and semi-solid battery industrial park, with construction about to commence. Zhang Xucheng, Chairman of Sungrow, stated that equipment delivery, commissioning and trial production will be achieved in Q1 2027.
Sungrow’s business spans photovoltaics, wind power, energy storage, charging, and multi-energy integration of solar, wind, storage, hydrogen and charging. According to Sungrow Power ’s 2026 semi-annual report, Sungrow serves as the implementation platform for the group’s new energy investment and development business. Its operations cover more than 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China, with overseas footprint across 17 countries and regions. The cumulative installed capacity of solar and wind power plants developed worldwide exceeds 61 GW.
Besides the semi-solid battery industrial park in Xingtai, Sungrow is pushing forward other energy storage projects. In September this year, it signed a deal for a 300 MW/600 MWh advanced energy storage station in Mengshan County, Wuzhou, Guangxi. The total investment stands at approximately RMB 900 million. Adopting lithium iron phosphate battery technology, the project is expected to be completed and connected to the grid in July 2027.
In addition, Sungrow Power broke ground on an energy storage manufacturing base in TEDA Industrial Park, Suez Canal Economic Zone, Egypt in August this year. With a total investment of USD 50 million, the site has a planned maximum annual capacity of 10 GWh and is scheduled to come into operation in April 2027.
