Recently, CATL has successively secured multiple overseas energy storage orders. Notably, the company will provide energy storage systems for a 2.4GWh solar-plus-storage project in Australia and has reached a cooperation agreement with Finland's Merus Power for approximately 3GWh of energy storage systems. Together, these two partnerships amount to a total capacity of 5.4GWh.

Securing a 2.4GWh Energy Storage System Order in Australia

CATL recently announced that it will provide energy storage systems with a total capacity of 2.4GWh for the Smoky Creek and Guthrie’s Gap solar-plus-storage projects, which are owned by the Australian renewable energy developer Edify Energy.

It is understood that the Smoky Creek and Guthrie’s Gap projects collectively form a large-scale hybrid solar-plus-storage power plant totaling 600MW. The project will be equipped with 720MWp of solar power generation facilities alongside a massive 600MW/2400MWh energy storage system.

At present, the project has successfully completed its financing. DT Infrastructure has been awarded the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract for the project, which is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by 2028.

Signing a 3GWh Energy Storage System Order

On June 3, CATL signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Finnish energy storage system integrator Merus Power. Under this agreement, CATL will deliver approximately 3GWh of energy storage system solutions to the Nordic market, further deepening their mutual partnership in the European energy storage sector.

According to the agreement, this collaboration will primarily focus on the development and delivery of energy storage projects across the Nordic region. Merus Power stated that this agreement represents a further upgrade, building upon the solid foundation of the two companies' cooperation over the past three years.

Previously, Merus Power had already utilized CATL's battery technology to successfully deliver a cumulative total of approximately 500MWh of energy storage projects in the Nordic region.
