Recently, several leading photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage companies have secured a spate of domestic and overseas energy storage orders.

Among them, CATL secured an order for a 1.5GWh energy storage system in Spain; Sungrow won a massive contract for 7.5GWh of large-scale liquid-cooled energy storage and 2.6GW of inverters in the United Arab Emirates (UAE); LONGi Green Energy officially shipped 30MWh of energy storage equipment to Africa to be used in a local mining area's solar-storage microgrid project; and Trina Solar reached a cooperation agreement with Zhejiang Libo New Energy to deliver 12 commercial and industrial (C&I) all-in-one energy storage cabinets.

CATL Secures 1.5GWh Energy Storage Order in Spain

On May 21, CATL signed an agreement with the Spanish renewable energy company Grenergy to provide a total of 1.5GWh of energy storage systems for its two energy storage projects located in Spain.

According to the agreement, CATL will supply 252 sets of TENER S lithium iron phosphate (LFP) energy storage systems. Among them, the Oviedo project will deploy 108 energy storage systems, with a total storage capacity of approximately 700MWh. This project is the flagship project within Greenbox, an independent energy storage platform promoted by Grenergy in Europe. It is scheduled to be commissioned in the first half of 2027 and has already signed a 10-year tolling agreement with an international investment-grade utility company.

The remaining 144 energy storage systems will be used for the Escuderos project, with a total capacity of 800MWh. Located in the Castilla-La Mancha region of Spain, this project is a key solar-storage hybrid project promoted by Grenergy in the area, and it will be equipped with 200MW of PV power generation and approximately 680MWh of energy storage systems. The energy storage portion of the project is expected to begin construction in the second half of this year and is scheduled to commence operations in 2027.

Sungrow Wins Massive 7.5GWh Energy Storage Contract in the UAE

Following the landing of the world's largest 7.8GWh energy storage project in Saudi Arabia, Sungrow announced on May 21 that it had recently secured another massive 7.5GWh contract in the UAE.

It is reported that Sungrow will partner with the international renewable energy company Masdar to supply 7.5GWh of PowerTitan 3.0 liquid-cooled energy storage systems and 2.6GW of inverters for its RTC1 Plant project.

Upon completion, the project will establish two global benchmarks: the world's first GW-level round-the-clock renewable energy project, and the world's largest application project of 684Ah stacked battery cells.

Reportedly, the project will be equipped with 3.44 million 684Ah stacked battery cells, increasing energy density by more than 10% and significantly reducing the initial investment of the power station. The project is expected to be grid-connected in 2027.

Trina Solar Receives Energy Storage Order from Zhejiang Libo New Energy

Recently, Trina Solar and Zhejiang Libo New Energy Development Co., Ltd. officially reached a strategic cooperation. According to the agreement, Trina Solar will deliver 12 Potentia Blue Ocean 2 commercial and industrial (C&I) all-in-one energy storage cabinets to the latter. The equipment will be used in the "Kexin Copper Energy Storage Project" invested and constructed by Zhejiang Libo New Energy.

Addressing the demands of high-energy-consumption industrial scenarios, the Potentia Blue Ocean 2 energy storage equipment delivered this time features targeted designs in terms of energy density, safety, and operation and maintenance (O&M) efficiency. This further verifies the product's adaptability in energy-intensive industrial settings.

LONGi Green Energy Ships 30MWh of Energy Storage Equipment to Africa

Recently, LONGi's 30MWh of energy storage equipment was officially shipped to Africa. The shipment of this 30MWh energy storage equipment marks another significant implementation achievement for LONGi's solar-storage microgrid solutions in African mining areas.

Since the beginning of this year, LONGi has made frequent strides in its overseas energy storage business. In April, its first European energy storage project was connected to the grid; the project features a 13.75MW/50.16MWh energy storage system operating in synergy with a 35MWp photovoltaic power station. Meanwhile, LONGi's first energy storage project located in Finland was also successfully connected to the grid and put into operation. In this project, LONGi provided an all-in-one integrated solution ranging from core energy storage equipment to system-level management and control.
