Recently, China's domestic energy storage and solid-state battery sectors have seen frequent major developments. Qingtao Energy's 3.5GWh solid-state battery production line and the world's first 100MWh semi-open energy storage battery demonstration line have successively entered the phase of substantial production; meanwhile, Gotion High-tech has completed the design for a 2GWh all-solid-state battery mass production line, and Rongjie Group's 12 billion RMB new energy intelligent manufacturing base project has also been officially signed and launched.
Qingtao Energy's 3.5GWh Solid-State Battery Project Goes into Production
On March 3, with the first batch of power battery raw materials successfully completing front-end feeding, the first 3.5GWh production line of Qingtao Energy's solid-state battery project entered the stage of substantial production.
As the first 10-billion-yuan level investment attraction project in Huangyan District, the first phase of Qingtao Energy's solid-state battery production line covers an area of 246 mu (approximately 40.5 acres), with an overall plan to build a 10GWh power solid-state battery production capacity. The line put into production this time has a designed capacity of 3.5GWh, producing power battery cells and covering processes such as homogenizing, coating, rolling and slitting, winding, and assembly.
According to the enterprise's plan, after this first production line runs stably, two additional production lines of the same scale will be planned and built. By then, the base will be able to achieve a full-load production of 10GWh.
Gotion High-tech Completes Design of 2GWh All-Solid-State Battery Mass Production Line
On March 2, Gotion High-tech stated on an interactive platform that the design work for the company's 2GWh all-solid-state battery mass production line has been essentially completed.
Previously, at the Global Technology Conference in May 2025, the company announced that it had built a 0.2GWh all-solid-state battery pilot line. This line was 100% independently developed, achieved a 100% localization rate for its core equipment, and possesses over 30 patents.
In addition, the company released the G-Yuan quasi-solid-state battery, which boasts a cell energy density exceeding 300 Wh/kg and a system energy density exceeding 235 Wh/kg, representing an increase of approximately 36% compared to liquid batteries of the same volume.
Rongjie Group's New Energy Intelligent Manufacturing Base Project Signed
On March 2, Rongjie Group's Guangzhou Development District New Energy Intelligent Manufacturing Base project was officially signed. This project has a planned total investment of 12 billion RMB, laying out three major sectors: consumer batteries, power batteries, and energy storage products. This precisely matches the supporting needs of emerging industries in Guangzhou, such as the low-altitude economy, intelligent robots, and new energy vehicles.
Rongjie Group stated that, as of now, the group's Nansha lithium battery and cathode/anode material manufacturing bases have achieved a cumulative fixed asset investment of over 5 billion RMB.
Among these, the lithium battery manufacturing and research and development base covers 400 mu (about 66 acres) and has already formed an annual production capacity scale of 35GWh for energy storage and power batteries, making it the largest lithium battery production base in Guangzhou. The second base, covering 370 mu (about 61 acres)—a lithium battery anode material project with an annual output of 100,000 tons—has already entered trial production. Furthermore, the lithium iron phosphate cathode material production base, with an annual output of 65,000 tons, will officially go into production in the second quarter of this year; once operational, it will fill the gap in Guangzhou's lithium battery cathode material sector.
100MWh Semi-Open Energy Storage Battery Demonstration Line Put into Production
Recently, scientific research achievements originating from a university-local government cooperation with Tsinghua University have ushered in a key breakthrough: the world's first semi-open energy storage battery demonstration production line, with a designed capacity of 100MWh, has fully gone into production in the Jiazhen Industrial Park, Wuhou District, Chengdu.
This project is led by Haofengguang Energy Storage Technology (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., an enterprise incubated by the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute. Chen Yongchong, chief scientist of Haofengguang Energy Storage, stated that the demonstration line successfully underwent trial production in July of last year and is currently operating at full throttle to advance production.
In terms of commercial implementation, thanks to its earlier debut on the "Sci-Tech Innovation Tianfu · Wisdom Gathering Rongcheng" platform and its technical appraisal of being at an "internationally leading" level, the technology has already secured cooperation agreements with multiple government funds and private capital entities.
At present, the R&D team is collaborating with central state-owned enterprises and listed companies to build energy storage demonstration power stations, and has successfully signed intentional orders for 1.5GWh. In the future, these products will be widely applied across various scenarios, including industrial and commercial peak shaving and valley filling, data center backup power and peak shaving, as well as large-scale peak shaving and frequency regulation on the power grid side.
