Over RMB 400 Million: JA Solar’s Perovskite-Silicon Tandem Cell Project Secures Filing Approval

On November 24th, the R&D project of perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells by Yiwu Jin'ao Heguang New Energy Co., Ltd. completed the filing process and officially obtained approval.

It is reported that the total investment of the project reaches 423.754 million yuan. It plans to build a new R&D center, purchase core R&D equipment such as laser grooving machines, plate-type PECVD, plate-type PVD, and integrated packaging equipment, and match supporting automated systems to advance the R&D progress of high-efficiency perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell technology.

According to Qichacha, Yiwu Jin'ao Heguang New Energy was established in July 2025, co-funded by Yiwu JA Solar Technology Co., Ltd. and Fujian Gold Stone Energy Co., Ltd., with shareholding ratios of 31.5% and 68.5% respectively. Among them, Yiwu JA Solar is a wholly-owned subsidiary of JA Solar Technology, located in Yiting Town, Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province.

Notably, JA Solar has accumulated solid technical experience in the field of perovskite tandem solar cells. In August 2025, JA Solar Technology announced that its independently developed 210mm half-cell commercial large-size perovskite/silicon two-terminal tandem solar cell, certified by Fujian Institute of Metrology, achieved a breakthrough in photoelectric conversion efficiency to 30.54% (forward scan) and 31.27% (reverse scan).

This key breakthrough is regarded as an important progress in its tandem cell technology from the laboratory to industrialization.

The other partner, Gold Stone Energy, also boasts strong strength. As a national high-tech enterprise focusing on high-efficiency solar cell technology and equipment, it has achieved remarkable results in the field of tandem solar cells. In November 2024, the perovskite/hybrid BC four-terminal tandem solar cell jointly developed by Gold Stone Energy and Huaqiao University achieved a conversion efficiency of 34.61%, among which the efficiency of the top perovskite cell was 21.70% and that of the bottom hybrid BC cell was 12.91%.
