On October 29, the 2025 Third International Perovskite Photovoltaic Industry Conference and the First Module Rollout Ceremony were grandly held in Kunshan. During the event, GCL Optoelectronics unveiled its first full-size 2400mm × 1150mm perovskite solar module from its GW-scale production line. Industry peers, academic experts, and supply chain partners from around the world gathered to witness this historic milestone.

This marks not only a key step toward GCL Optoelectronics’ GW-scale mass production goal but also a significant leap for China’s perovskite industry—from “technological foresight” to “industrial realization.” The achievement injects strong “Chinese momentum” into the global energy transition.

The newly launched 2400×1150mm perovskite module is currently the world’s largest commercialized perovskite module in mass production. It delivers comprehensive breakthroughs in conversion efficiency, stability, and manufacturing cost, representing the highest level of global perovskite technology and industrialization. The product overcomes the long-standing challenges of large-area perovskite film preparation, highlighting GCL Optoelectronics’ major advances in technology integration and manufacturing processes.

With exceptional photoelectric conversion efficiency on an ultra-large surface area, innovative encapsulation materials ensuring outstanding long-term stability, and the cost advantages of GW-scale low-energy production, the new module redefines perovskite mass production standards. Its four-terminal tandem structure is compatible with existing TOPCon, BC, and HJT production lines, enabling seamless integration between perovskite and silicon-based technologies.

At the ceremony, Tian Qingyong, General Manager of GCL Optoelectronics, shared his excitement:

“From the initial 2,048 cm² lab-scale breakthrough, to the 2 m² 100 MW pilot line validation, and now to today’s 2.76 m² mass production module, we have set three milestones over a decade of perovskite innovation. This evolution is not merely about size—it redefines the cost logic of the photovoltaic industry. Only by breaking the traditional limits of material utilization can we unlock the true cost-reduction potential of perovskite and translate technological advantages into market competitiveness.”

The successful rollout of GCL Optoelectronics’ 2.76 m² perovskite module carries three profound implications for the global perovskite industry:

Proof of Technological Maturity — The stable mass production of ultra-large modules demonstrates that GCL Optoelectronics has fully overcome key industrialization challenges such as large-area uniform coating, precise defect control, and long-term encapsulation reliability. This confirms that perovskite technology is ready for large-scale deployment.

Efficiency-Cost Optimization — Larger module sizes directly increase unit power output and significantly reduce system costs (BOS), driving down the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE). This fosters complementary development between perovskite and traditional crystalline silicon markets, paving the way for a dual-technology path in photovoltaics.

Establishing Industry Standards — With its first-mover advantage, GCL Optoelectronics has set a new benchmark for large-size perovskite modules, guiding the industry’s shift from small-scale trials to a new stage of “large-size, high-efficiency” competition and advancing the high-quality development of the global perovskite sector.

Looking ahead, GCL Optoelectronics will continue to promote technology iteration and industrial upgrading under the vision of “Setting Size Standards, Shaping the Future with Efficiency.” The company plans to ramp up GW-scale production to meet market demand while improving yield and efficiency, deepen R&D efforts to push module efficiency closer to theoretical limits, enhance stability for diverse applications such as BIPV, and build a collaborative industrial ecosystem across materials, equipment, and system integration.

The successful rollout of the GW-scale full-size perovskite module not only marks a major milestone for GCL Optoelectronics but also serves as a powerful driver of global photovoltaic innovation—signaling the accelerated arrival of a more efficient and cost-effective green energy era.
