According to Wechat Official Account @mybattery, on April 25th, Gotion High-Tech Co., Ltd. announced that the company intends to change the original fundraising investment project, the "20GWh Annual Production of Volkswagen Standard Cell Project", to the "Volkswagen Standard Cell Production Line Project" while keeping the implementation location, implementation entity, and total investment amount unchanged. The construction content is planned to be changed to the annual production of 28GWh power lithium-ion batteries, and the time to reach the expected usable state has been adjusted from December 2024 to December 2026.
Specifically, the implementation content of the project will be changed from "annual production of 20GWh power lithium-ion batteries, including 10GWh ternary power batteries and 10GWh lithium iron phosphate power batteries" to "annual production of 28GWh power lithium-ion batteries, including 12GWh ternary power batteries, 16GWh lithium iron phosphate power batteries, and supporting PACK production project".
The announcement shows that the original fundraising investment project of Gotion High-Tech, the "20GWh Annual Production of Volkswagen Standard Cell Project", was implemented by Hefei Gotion Battery Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, in the Xinzhan High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Hefei, Anhui Province. The total investment of the project is 1,000,515,000 yuan, and 532,278,380 yuan of the raised funds is planned to be used. It was scheduled to reach the expected usable state in December 2024.
As of March 31, 2025, the cumulative investment of the raised funds in this project is 340,797,300 yuan, and the remaining balance of the unused raised funds is 208,377,540 yuan (including the amount of bank interest income after deducting bank handling fees, etc., and the expenses paid to third parties that have not been replaced). Gotion High-Tech stated that in order to actively respond to the demand of strategic customers for high-performance power lithium-ion batteries and give full play to the efficiency of using the raised funds, the company plans to upgrade and optimize the production line process on the basis of the construction achievements of the existing fundraising investment project, and further expand the production capacity scale of power batteries. At the same time, considering that the performance indicators of the original cell design are difficult to match the latest technical requirements of strategic customers, Gotion High-Tech will comprehensively iterate the cell design simultaneously during this capacity expansion to ensure that the product performance reaches the leading level in the industry and effectively meets the customers' application requirements for high performance and high reliability of power batteries.
This capacity expansion will deeply apply the high compaction density cathode material and high-rate cell technology independently developed by Gotion High-Tech. By optimizing the formula of the positive and negative electrode materials, improving the structural design and manufacturing process of the cells, a new generation of high-performance power lithium-ion cells with high energy density, high charge-discharge efficiency, and long cycle life will be produced.
