Launching on 28-29 November 2018 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Center, The Solar Show Sri Lanka 2018 will bring together policy makers, regulators, investors and financiers, leading utilities, power producers, project developers, renewable energy vendors, with the business owners, homeowners and land developers, both international local to discuss and learn about the potential of energy in Sri Lanka.

Ms Sharon Roessen, Managing Director of Terrapinn, the event organizer, said: “Sri Lanka has considerable potential for renewable energy, and has made a great start with its first 100mw of solar and the Battle for Solar Energy (Soorya Bala Sangramaya). The Solar Show Sri Lanka, taking place on the 28-29 November 2018 at the SLECC will help the Sri Lankan Government, investors and industry to continue to drive the renewable energy agenda forward.”

An island country at risk from the effects of climate change, Sri Lanka has ambitious goals of adding 200MW of solar by 2020, 1GW by 2025, and to be 100% renewable by 2050.

The two-day exhibition and conference hopes to spark interest in the renewable energy industry in Sri Lanka. It also seeks to raise awareness about the variety of renewable energy solutions available for all sectors – the power plants and utilities, the factories and manufacturing plants, the large-scale buildings, and homeowners.

Some prominent speakers from Sri Lanka include Mr Damintha Kuramasinghe, Director General of Public Utilities of Commission of Sri Lanka, Mr. Harsha Wickramasinghe of the Sustainable Energy Authority Sri Lanka, Mr Ranishka Wimalasena of the Asian Development Board, Dr. B.M.S Batagoda of the Ministry of Power & Renewable Energy, and guests from the Board of Investment (BOI).

Others offer international perspectives on the industry, with Canopy Power (Singapore), International Finance Corporation (World Bank), 8minutenergy India, and The Lantau Group (Hong Kong) and more speaking on topics such as grid stability and on-and off-grid systems, integrating energy storage, the energy transition process.

Over 1500 industry attendees are expected to visit the show. Aside from the main conference, exhibitors will showcase the latest in energy technologies, ranging from home solar rooftop systems,  energy-storage solutions, inverters, hybrid and intelligent systems and more. The show is expected to attract 50+ international and local exhibitors.
