Canadian solar added five solar power plants, totaling 22.9MW, to its operational portfolio in the United Kingdom. Two of the plants have been grid-connected under the Renewable Obligations Certificate (ROCs) program.

"We are delighted to announce the grid connection of an additional five projects, bringing our fleet of solar power plants in commercial operation in the UK to 63.1 MWp," said Dr. Shawn Qu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Solar. "We are proud to make our contribution to the adoption of clean solar energy in the UK, while at the same time creating lasting value for our shareholders."

The two ROCs-applicable plants are Long Meadow Solar Farm (4.1MW) and Slade Solar Farm (4.1MW), which total 8.2MWp and have been connected to the grid in the fourth quarter of 2015. The other three plants, Royston Solar Park (10MW, 5MW grid-connected), Wick Road Solar Park (7.2MW) and Pant-Y-Moch Solar Park (10MW, 5MW grid-connected), with a total installation of 14.7MWp, are being developed under the community scheme and are expected to completely connect to the grid in the first half of 2016. If they were grid connected on schedule, the community investors would be able to benefit from large scale PV systems development in the UK.

The five plants are expected to generate approximately 23,953 MWh of solar electricity per year, offsetting around 16,517 metric tons of CO2.
