Heraeus, a global manufacturer of conducting pastes for PV cells, has announced to open two new Regional R&D centers in Mainland China and Taiwan. The main task of these new R&D centers is to develop and modify front-side and back-side metallization pastes. The announcement was unveiled by the Heareus Photovoltaics Global Business Unit at this year’s SNEC exhibition in the company’s booth, W3-660.
Heraeus has relocated their photvoltaics business unit headquarters to Shanghai and has initiated front-side paste production in China in 2014. The newly opened R&D centers are further steps of its new company strategy.
"The opening of R&D facilities in Mainland China and Taiwan demonstrates our dedication to our photovoltaic customers in these geographic markets," states Andreas Liebheit, Head of Heraeus Photovoltaics Global Business Unit. "The core of our research and development is in the United States, and we have already realized the great benefits with faster innovation using this strategy. However, we have a strong market reputation for product customizations to meet a customer's specific product needs. This can be best achieved by having our resources closer to our customers' facilities.”
With the new R&D centers located across the Taiwan Strait, Heraeus expects to reduce the time it takes to modify products for key customers. The company also plans to hire individuals for both centers to fill these newly created regional roles in our organization.
