Japanese Vendors Shipped 2567MW of Solar Cell Domestically in 2QFY14

In the second quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2014 ended in September, Japanese PV vendors shipped 2567MW of solar cells to the domestic market, representing a 28% increase from the previous quarter as well as a 21% increase from 2QFY13. Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) pointed that both the first and the second quarter’s shipments had grown comparing to the same period of last year.

In the quarter, Japanese PV companies shipped 1852 MW of solar modules, increasing 31% from the previous quarter and 16% from the same quarter in FY 2013. According to Nikkei BP’s report, the ratio of cumulative PV module shipments of Japanese companies to that of foreign companies was 7:3, and the ratio of domestically produced PV modules to abroad production was 4:6. The ratios substantially changed comparing to FY 2013 and the first quarter of FY2014.

JPEA also announced monthly PV module shipments from October 2014. The total capacity of module shipment in October was 644,018 kW.
