Kyocera, a Japanese manufacturer of electronic devices and solar products, revealed a new off-grid solar energy storage Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery system. This product will be unveiled next week and start selling on March 3rd.
This high efficient Li-ion storage system can be equipped with Kyocera’s solar products, with a storage capacity of 12 kWh. When being used correctly, the battery has a 1o-years warranty and an 8,000-times cycle. Since the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami disaster happened, Japan has been trying to develop renewable energy system as well as methods to offer electricity when power supply is interrupted because of natural catastrophes. Kyocera’s new storage system is one of the solutions.
According toNikkei BP’s report, the Li-ion battery system is for commercial and public utility use. Not only providing electricity when disaster occurs, it can also generate and offer power when connected to Kyocera’s solar power system. There are six modes for customers to choose from. These modes include “peak shift mode” and “independent operating mode,” which can automatically transfer solar power to the most important facility and store up the rest of the energy.
This product will be unveiled on the 7th International Photovoltaic Power Generation Expo in Tokyo, Japan from February 26th to 28th.
