Photon Energy Expands O&M Portfolio
2012-12-18 14:46

Photon Energy Operations is expanding its O&M services to Southwest Germany by initially undertaking a succession of service contracts for rooftop PV plants previously serviced by the insolvent company, SunConcept GmbH. Along with new service contracts in other countries, Photon Energy Operations’ O&M services portfolio has risen to more than 50 MW worldwide.

Photon Energy Operations is expanding its operations and maintenance services into Southwest Germany through its subsidiary Photon Energy Operations DE SW GmbH. A large succession of orders for O&M contracts for rooftop PV plants previously held by the now insolvent company SunConcept GmbH has been the catalyst of this expansion. The PV plants are located primarily in the region of Hessen.

After an agreement was signed with the responsible liquidator in early September all former clients of SunConcept have received service offers, and a large number of them have already signed new contracts with Photon Energy Operations.

Growing international portfolio

Photon Energy Operations continues to expand its portfolio of power plants under management across several countries. In October two new plants representing 2 MW were added in the Czech Republic. This brings the current total of serviced PV plants to 51,7 MW. The company has plans to expand its O&M portfolio internationally by targeting new markets such as Romania or North America.

Operations and maintenance grow more important

With solar energy playing an increasing role in today’s world some investors oversee the importance of proper O&M of their assets. Many plants do not run at full capacity due to faulty or contaminated modules, mistakes in the planning and construction phase or insufficient maintenance. Real-time monitoring can help make technical adjustments which ultimately lead to an increase in revenues.

“As with any other long-term investment it is vital to have PV-power plants running at full capacity,” says Photon Energy Group CEO Georg Hotar. Especially during the winter months the right O&M can contribute enormously to maximising a plant’s output. Insufficient O&M on the other hand can cause small-scale outages to remain undetected. Photon Energy Operations’ integrated service approach helps PV plants and their revenues achieve their full potential.
