Satcon Technology Corporation® (NASDAQ CM: SATC), a leading provider of utility-scale power conversion solutions for the renewable energy market, today announced that it has been selected by Southern Sky Renewable Energy and Gemma Renewable Power to supply 5 megawatts (MW) of its Equinox™ solution, Satcon’s next generation solar inverter with 98.5 percent peak efficiency.

Built upon Satcon's industry-leading PowerGate® Plus family, the world’s most widely-deployed large-scale PV inverter solutions, Equinox enhances system-wide energy harvest and solar plant yield, enabling the industry's highest return on investment (ROI). Equinox's advanced utility-ready features enable remote control of real and reactive power, low-voltage ride through and power factor control. The solution supports fast communications, allowing it to be easily integrated into SCADA systems through standardized communication interfaces.

With over 2.5 gigawatts (GW) of solar inverter solutions shipped, Satcon is powering many of the world’s largest and most advanced utility-scale solar farms. All Equinox solutions include EDGE Adaptive Control Architecture (ACA)™, enabling instant voltage stabilization, frequency control, and dynamic grid support. EDGE ACA secures the continuous operation of the PV plant in the event of dynamic ground faults and achieves the performance guidelines set forth by the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW 2008 Grid Connection Standard).

This site is expected to be energized in the first half of 2012.
