2011-12-27 16:12

S.A.G. Solarstrom AG (German security identification number: 702 100, ISIN: DE0007021008) has donated an 11.4 kWp photovoltaic system to the SOS Children’s Village Ammersee-Lech in Dießen as part of their project “More Energy for Children“. The system was officially handed over today to Erich Schöpflin, Head of the SOS Children’s Village. The SOS Children’s Village will be able to benefit financially from the proceeds for the next 20 years at least. Each year, the system will generate around11,200 kWh of green electricity and 7.8 tons of CO2 emissions will be prevented. With this year’s donation, S.A.G. Solarstrom AG is continuing their sustained commitment to the SOS Children’s Villages.

The foundation stone of the first SOS Children’s Village in Germany was laid in 1956 in Dießen. Today, around 60 children live here in ten Children’s Village families. The affiliated day-care center, which offers a full-time day nursery and after-school care, is available both to the children from the SOS Children’s Village and to the children from the parish of Dießen. In addition, the offer also encompasses two help centers in nearby Landsberg am Lech as well as a curative residential group.

The photovoltaic system has been erected in the Children’s Village on the roof of the apartment building that offered the best conditions for the system installation, both with regard to size and to south-facing orientation. Employees of the SOS Children’s Village who are in training or in their probationary period can live in this house, in the immediate vicinity of their place of work, for a low flat-rate fee. Parents can also use the house when visiting the SOS Children’s Village.

“The photovoltaic system is a gift that serves the goals of our organization in numerous respects, and for which we thank the company S.A.G. Solarstrom most warmly. In addition to a drastic reduction in our running costs for the family houses, a further milestone, after the Mosaik House, will be laid in an environmentally-friendly energy supply for our Children’s Village. This donation will strengthen our efforts towards energy restructuring”, says Erich Schöpflin, Head of the Village.

Donation will have long-lasting positive effects
The 11.4 kWp system has a market value of around €22,000. With an annual yield of 11,200 kWh, it covers the electricity requirements of three four-person households. The SOS Children’s Village Ammersee will thus receive around €3,300 a year over the next twenty years from the feed-in of the electricity yield. meteocontrol GmbH, the global market leader in professional system monitoring with around 23,000 systems and a total output of 3.8 GWp, once again provided a data logger at no cost for this system and will monitor the system in its monitoring portal Safer’Sun online free of charge. The SOS Children’s Village can thus view the power production of the system at any time.

”More Energy for Children“–S.A.G. Solarstrom AG’s fundraising campaign
S.A.G. Solarstrom AG has been providing support for the SOS Children’s Villages since 2008 with its fundraising campaign ”More Energy for Children“. The photovoltaic system in the SOS Children’s Village Ammersee-Lech is the fourth system to be donated in this campaign. The photovoltaic systems provided by the Group produce green electricity and thus make an active contribution to environmental protection. At the same time, the children in the SOS Children’s Villages receive lasting financial support through the electricity revenue. You can find more information about the fundraising campaign on S.A.G. Solarstrom AG’s website.

”We feel passionately about the fundraising campaign and we are delighted to have been once again able to present a Christmas gift this year which is long-lasting in so many respects“, says Dr. Karl Kuhlmann, CEO of S.A.G. Solarstrom AG.
