2011-09-07 15:57

First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) announced that it has extended its material and workmanship warranty from five to ten years. The announcement was made at the 2011 European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC), one of the world's largest solar energy trade shows.

The new warranty covers First Solar's advanced Series 3 solar modules as of Oct. 1 and demonstrates the company's commitment to product quality and reliability. First Solar's proven thin-film technology has been deployed in some of the largest photovoltaic projects to date, like the 80 megawatt Sarnia project in Ontario, Canada.

"As one of the world's largest solar module manufacturers, we understand the need for a low-risk product that is backed by a comprehensive warranty," said Stephan Hansen, managing director of First Solar GmbH. "In addition to the extended workmanship warranty, First Solar modules are covered by a 25-year power performance warranty--both of which enable us to meet the evolving needs of our global customers."

First Solar modules are also covered by the company's prefunded collection and recycling program. First Solar will be exhibiting at PVSEC through Sept. 8.
