Boston-Power, Inc., the rapidly growing provider of next-generation lithium-ion battery cells, battery modules and battery systems, announced that it has earned the prestigious TiE50 Award.

Boston-Power will be among those honored tomorrow at TiEcon 2011, one of the world's largest conferences for entrepreneurs, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif. This year, the TiE50 program evaluated 1619 companies worldwide through a multi-tier screening and judging process to select the top 50 firms.

“We’re honored to be named a 2011 TiE50 Award winner and appreciate such an endorsement of our innovations in energy storage,” said Boston-Power Founder and Executive Chairman Dr. Christina Lampe-Önnerud. “Whether for transportation, utility energy storage, consumer electronics or a range of other markets, demand for longer lasting, better performing, faster charging, safer and environmentally sustainable batteries and systems has never been higher. We remain committed to delivering those solutions and thank our customers and partners for sharing our vision.”

“Boston-Power was clearly ranked amongst the best of the breed by a team of 60 highly accomplished and experienced judges,” said Mr. Vish Mishra, chairman of TiEcon 2011 and president of TiE Silicon Valley. These experts included globally recognized venture capitalists, CEOs, academia and serial entrepreneurs. “Being recognized as a TiE50 winner is a true testament to their entrepreneurial spirit and world class caliber.”

"TiE50 companies this year again represented an extraordinary set of ideas, innovation, and business opportunities. Since its inception two years ago, 94% of TiE50 companies have been funded, attracting over $20 billion in investments! Fourty two companies have already exited,” said Ram K. Reddy, Chair TiE50 2011. “We plan to feature our finalists and winners through various channels and outreach programs during the year.”
