Vestas has received an order from Troms Kraft AS for delivery of 18 units of the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine. The order has a total capacity of 54 MW and the project will be located in Fakken close to Tromsø in Norway. Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to be completed in 2012. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines, a VestasOnline® Business SCADA system and a 5-year service agreement.

This is Vestas’ first large order in Norway and a step stone into the Norwegian market. Norway has excellent wind conditions, which are perfect for the V90-3.0 MW turbine.

Based on the positive Norwegian market prospects, Vestas has also decided to establish a sales office in Oslo as well as a local service organisation in Norway as local presence is key to Vestas’ success in new markets.

“Today we could not be more satisfied and pleased of announcing this order,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe. “Troms Kraft has initiated our establishment in Norway by rewarding us the 54 MW contract. We are excited to be part of Norway’s development of wind power and the timing could not be better. With reference to announcement from the Swedish Government Office on 8 of December regarding Norway’s plans of adapting to the already existing Swedish Green Certificates, we are very much looking forward to a continuous long-term relationship with Troms Kraft.”

”Producing renewable energy has been our focus for more than 100 yeas,” says Oddbjørn Schei, Chairman of Troms Kraft Produksjon. “Within the renewable energy sector, wind power is a new and important area of investment for us. This contract brings us one step closer to a realisation of our first wind power plant and we are pleased to have a world-leading producer of wind turbines as partner in this project.”
