The Pacific Ferris Wheel, all-new $1.5 million, 130-ft, at Pacific Park in Santa Monica, CA, has been upgraded to a new behemoth that boasts 160,000 LED lights, which will provide energy savings and complement its solar-power program by soaking up energy during the day.

The Pacific Ferris Wheel, built in 1996, was the first ferris wheel powered by solar in the world. Lastly, Oklahoma City real-estate developer, Grant Humphreys gets the old wheel from eBay by over $130,000t, and plans to incorporate the wheel into a mixed use residential community.

The Pacific Wheel appeared in many Hollywood films including A Night at the Roxbury, Titanic, and Thank You for Smoking, which is the main reason why the younger and more attractive replacement will probably get some screen time as well.
