Intersolar India, India’s largest exhibition and conference for the solar industry, has won a Gold Award in recognition of its outstanding exhibition and conference program. In the 2016 Exhibition Excellence Awards by leading Indian tradeshow magazine Indian Showcase with the support of the Indian Exhibition Industry Association (IEIA), Intersolar India was declared India’s best-in-class event in the category Knowledge Hub.
With five events on four continents, the Intersolar series is the industry’s international hub for manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, project developers, investors and installers. As a strategy and information platform, the events showcase state-of-the-art technologies, products and latest market developments in the photovoltaics and energy storage industry.
Intersolar India is growing in popularity, and the most recent event attracted around 11,000 international visitors and 680 conference delegates. Leading experts from research and industry discussed the latest developments in the Indian solar market in 49 conference and exhibition sessions.
There was strong interest in the sessions, notably in Field Experience of Ground Mounted PV Power Plants in India and Field Experience of Rooftop PV Power Plants in India. Roof-mounted installations also generated much interest, in the light of plans from the Indian government to install around 40 GW of commercial and industrial roof-mounted installations by the year 2022.
For the first time, the fourth Indo-German Energy Symposium took place at the same time as Intersolar India. With workshops such as Making RE and EE Business a Win-Win for Private and Public and Bankable Business Models to Finance Solar Projects in India, the sessions offered fresh ideas on the profitability and financing of solar technologies.
The Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy also hosted an expert discussion on Concentrated Solar Technologies for Medium & High Temperature Heat Applications. Speakers included Dr. R. P. Goswami, Director of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), India and Anna Heimsath, leader of the team for concentrating collectors at the Institute for Solar Thermal and Optics at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, Germany.
