Recently, a string of overseas energy storage contract announcements have emerged. Four companies including CATL, Sungrow, Clou Electronics and APsystems have unveiled overseas partnerships to expand their footprint in energy storage markets across Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia and beyond.

CATL signs 3 GWh sodium-ion energy storage deal in Germany

On October 27, CATL announced that it had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INTILION GmbH, a German energy storage solution provider, for a cooperation volume of 3 GWh.

Under the agreement, the two parties will extend their existing cooperation into the sodium-ion battery sector. Over the next five years, they plan to jointly develop and deploy sodium-ion energy storage projects in Europe with a maximum total capacity of 3 GWh.

CATL will leverage its technological strengths in sodium-ion battery R&D, manufacturing and energy storage system solutions, while INTILION will draw on its local market resources, system integration expertise and project operation experience to jointly advance the development, delivery and market rollout of sodium-ion energy storage projects.

Back in June, CATL officially launched its Tianheng sodium-ion energy storage system in Munich, Germany, offering a new-generation sodium-ion battery solution for large-scale energy storage stations.

Sungrow secures 300 MWh energy storage project in Australia

According to a PR Newswire report, Sungrow, ENGIE and Elecnor will jointly develop the Hazelwood Battery Energy Storage System Stage 2 (HBESS 2) expansion project in Victoria, Australia.

The project has a capacity of 150 MW / 300 MWh and is scheduled to enter commercial operation in 2028. It will adopt Sungrow’s energy storage systems. The three partners have clear work split: Sungrow’s Australian team will supply the technology, and Elecnor will undertake the Balance of Plant (BOP) EPC work for the power station.

The supporting equipment package includes 66 units of PowerTitan 2.0 ST5015-UX energy storage systems, 33 SC6900UD-MV medium-voltage PCS converters and EMS3000 intelligent controllers. Tailored for utility-scale energy storage applications, the full solution covers charge and discharge control, power conversion and plant-wide dispatch management.

Clou Electronics strikes energy storage cooperation in Singapore

On October 27, during Singapore International Energy Week, Clou signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Equator Renewables Asia (ERA), a Singaporean renewable energy firm.

The two sides reached cooperation on the modular photovoltaic platform SolarBox, and will jointly explore the integrated application of energy storage and modular PV. Clou boasts independent R&D and system integration capabilities covering BESS, PCS and EMS.

In response to the application requirements of SolarBox, Clou and ERA will explore collaboration on system adaptation and energy management. SolarBox integrates deployable PV modules into a 40-foot container.

APsystems signs commercial & industrial energy storage partnership in Denmark

On October 28, APsystems announced that it had recently entered a strategic cooperation agreement with HeatSave A/S, a Danish integrated energy solution provider, focusing on commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage systems.

Under this strategic framework, HeatSave A/S will serve as APsystems’ core partner for C&I energy storage in Denmark, delivering localized distribution and project development services for Denmark and the broader European market.

APsystems has built a product portfolio spanning 60 kWh to 5 MWh, compatible with user-side, generation-side and grid-side energy storage scenarios. Supported by its large-scale energy storage warehouse in the Netherlands and PACK production base in Spain, the company has established a localized supply network in Europe to quickly respond to project demands.
