According to EnergyTrend, on October 16, the official website of Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone Administrative Committee released a public notice on the proposed approval decision for the EIA documents of two JA cell projects in Yangzhou.

Documents show the two projects are JA Yangzhou R&D No.1 Solar Cell Technology R&D Project and JA Yangzhou Base Cell Technical Renovation Project, both developed by JA (Yangzhou) Solar Technology Co., Ltd.

JA (Yangzhou) plans to invest RMB 36 million in the JA Yangzhou R&D No.1 Solar Cell Technology R&D Project. The main work involves renovating Lab 1 of its in-house R&D center and the auxiliary building of Plant 9, covering a construction area of approximately 10,139 m². A total of 18 sets of core equipment including wet processing, doping, coating, printing and testing tools will be procured. Combined with existing retained experimental and testing equipment, around 150 sets of equipment in total will be deployed to build a solar cell research lab for R&D of high-efficiency N-type and TBC solar cell technologies.

Also under public review is the JA Yangzhou Base Cell Technical Renovation Project, with a planned investment of RMB 210 million. Upon completion, the total solar cell capacity at the Jingyun manufacturing site will remain unchanged at 20 GW per annum. The project adheres strictly to the principle of no new production capacity and no additional power consumption for construction; only equipment renewal and technology upgrades will be carried out to improve product performance.
