Recently, projects in the lithium battery and energy storage supply chain have continued to advance, involving sectors such as sodium-ion battery cathode materials, aluminum foil, lithium battery separators, and energy storage systems. Some projects have already commenced production or seen their products roll off the line, while others have entered the stages of groundbreaking, signing, and construction advancement.
Jiana Energy's Sodium-Ion Battery Materials Project Commences Production
On September 21, Jiana Energy's 20,000-ton sodium-ion polyanion material expansion project officially commenced production in Zigong, Sichuan.
This project primarily relies on iron-based polyanion technology to produce sodium-ion battery cathode materials, with products covering application scenarios such as large-scale energy storage and light-duty motive power. Previously, the enterprise completed and commissioned its phase-one 10,000-ton-class production line at the Zigong base in 2024. The commissioning of this phase-two 20,000-ton expansion project enables the enterprise to double its production capacity scale for polyanion sodium-ion battery cathode materials.
Tuoxinan Energy Storage System Project Settles Down
On September 21, the signing ceremony for the energy storage system supply chain and smart manufacturing project of Tuoxinan New Energy (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. was held in Lechang, Guangdong.
The project is planned to be located in the Chengdong area of the Lechang Economic Development Zone, with a total investment of approximately 500 million yuan. The project will establish a specialized supply chain management and new energy smart manufacturing company, focusing on the battery pack (PACK) accessories track, integrating supply chain resources such as structural components, connectors, and thermal management materials, to build a one-stop supply chain service platform for mobile energy storage.
Products Roll Off the Line at Envision's Jiangmen Smart Energy Storage Base
On the morning of September 20, the first set of products from Envision's Jiangmen Smart Energy Storage Base was officially shipped, and simultaneously, 400MWh of energy storage products successfully rolled off the line at the base.
The base is located in Guanghai Bay, Taishan City, Jiangmen, primarily producing containerized integrated energy storage products, cabinet-style products, and AC-side products, possessing an annual production capacity of 500,000 kWh of energy storage equipment. The project began construction in November 2024 and entered the trial production phase in May 2026.
Environmental Impact Assessment for a Lithium Battery Separator Project is Accepted
On September 17, the Suichang Branch of the Lishui Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau issued an announcement, officially accepting the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) documents for Zhejiang Shengmoxi Technology Co., Ltd.'s lithium battery separator project with an annual capacity of 30 million square meters.
This project is located in the Longbanshan Dongcheng Intelligent Manufacturing Park in Suichang County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, and is implemented by Zhejiang Shengmoxi Technology Co., Ltd. through renting standard factory buildings within the park. The project plans to purchase major equipment such as high-speed separator coating lines and high-precision slitting machines. Once completed, it will form an annual production capacity of 30 million square meters of lithium battery separators.
Construction Commences on 50,000-Ton Sodium-Ion Battery Aluminum Foil Project
On the morning of September 16, Shenhuo Group's high-performance sodium-ion battery aluminum foil project with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons officially commenced construction in the Shangqiu Demonstration Zone.
The project has a construction period of 24 months, planning to build an approximately 40,000-square-meter production workshop and a smart warehousing system. It will primarily produce battery aluminum foils for sodium-ion cathodes and anodes, featuring alloy grades such as 1070 and 1100, and thicknesses ranging from 8 to 20 μm.
Once the project is completed and reaches full capacity, the aluminum foil processing capacity of Shenhuo Group's Shangqiu base will increase to 165,000 tons, and the group's total aluminum foil capacity will reach 190,000 tons.
Another Energy Storage and Data Equipment Manufacturing Project Commences Production
On September 16, Inner Mongolia CIMC New Energy Equipment Co., Ltd.'s fully integrated energy storage and data equipment manufacturing project, with an annual capacity of 10,000 units, was officially completed and put into production in the Hondlon District of Baotou City.
The first phase of the project focuses primarily on energy storage equipment. After commencing production, it can form an annual delivery capacity of 10,000 units (sets) of energy storage enclosures/cabins and 15GWh of energy storage systems. Currently, the manufacturing base's four major systems—enclosure manufacturing, system integration, testing and delivery, and digital management—are fully operational.
Huiqiang New Energy Advances 2-Billion-Yuan Wet-Process Separator Project
On September 15, the site leveling engineering for Huiqiang New Energy's wet-process separator production project with an annual capacity of 2.8 billion square meters—located in the Anju Economic Development Zone in Sichuan—had completed 60% of its total workload, and it is scheduled to finish site leveling and be delivered to the enterprise in early October.
This project is invested and constructed by Henan Huiqiang New Energy Material Technology Co., Ltd., and was officially signed in July this year. With a planned total investment of 2 billion yuan, the project will build 8 new wet-process separator production lines and 30 coating production lines, and is scheduled to enter the trial production phase in August 2027.
Senior Material's Lithium Battery Separator Project Tops Out
Recently, the Senior Material Innov Project in Penang, Malaysia, constructed by the First Engineering Co., Ltd. of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, was fully topped out.
The project is invested and constructed by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Senior Material, with a total investment of approximately 6.4 billion Malaysian Ringgit (about 10 billion RMB) and a total construction area exceeding 200,000 square meters. The project is constructed in two phases, with the first phase already having officially commenced production and operations in June 2025.
Once the project is fully completed, it will possess an annual processing capacity of 4 billion square meters of lithium-ion battery wet-process base films and corresponding coated separators.
