Total Investment Exceeds RMB 12.5 Billion! Six Major Sodium-Ion and Energy Storage Projects Accelerated

Recently, multiple sodium-ion battery and energy storage projects have entered the stages of construction, production, or capacity expansion.

Zenergy's RMB 10 Billion Sodium-ion Battery Project Receives EIA Approval

Recently, the Management Committee of the Changshu High-tech Industrial Development Zone officially approved the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the new intelligent and flexible manufacturing project for sodium-ion batteries of Jiangsu Zenergy Battery Technologies Group Co., Ltd. With a total investment of RMB 10 billion, the project plans to acquire approximately 494,600 square meters of new land to construct the new intelligent and flexible manufacturing project for sodium-ion batteries.

According to the EIA documents, the entire project is divided into three blocks. Among them, the main production block is planned to build sodium-ion battery production lines with an annual capacity of 50 GWh, along with supporting R&D and experimental testing systems. The electrode production line block is planned to build cathode and anode electrode production lines; once full capacity is reached, it is expected to annually produce 145 million square meters of cathode electrodes and 154 million square meters of anode electrodes, which will similarly be equipped with R&D and testing facilities.

First EIA Public Notice Issued for Capchem’s Phase II Battery Chemicals Project

Recently, Chongqing Capchem New Materials Co., Ltd. released the first EIA public notice for its Phase II Battery Chemicals Project. Located at No. 5 Huanan 8th Branch Road, Yanjia Sub-district, Changshou District, Chongqing, the Phase II project will be constructed on a reserved plot within the existing plant site.

Once the project is completed, it is expected to add an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of lithium-ion battery electrolytes, 50,000 tons of sodium-ion battery electrolytes, and 6,000 tons of ethylene carbonate.

Jina Energy Accelerates its 5GWh Sodium-ion Battery Project

Recently, the large-capacity stacked prismatic sodium-ion battery project of Yixing Jina Energy Technology Co., Ltd. obtained the investment project filing certificate from Jiangsu Province. Currently, the factory renovation has been completed, and production equipment is successively arriving on site to advance installation and commissioning, with the production line construction entering its final wrap-up stage.

The overall planned capacity of the project is 5 GWh, which will be constructed in two phases. Among them, the first phase plans for a 1 GWh capacity and is scheduled to enter production in November 2026. It will primarily produce 175Ah stacked prismatic sodium-ion batteries, with products mainly targeting scenarios such as large-scale energy storage, commercial and industrial energy storage, and residential energy storage. The second phase plans for a 4 GWh capacity and is scheduled to enter production in May 2027, primarily focusing on 325Ah large-capacity sodium-ion batteries targeting large-scale energy storage applications.

Construction Commences on 5GWh Semi-Solid-State Battery PACK Energy Storage Project

On September 11, construction commenced on the Jiangsu Yuedongda Semi-Solid-State Battery PACK Containerized Energy Storage Project.

Invested and constructed by Yuedong New Energy Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., the project is primarily engaged in the production and sales of products such as lithium-ion energy storage battery module assemblies and containerized energy storage systems. Upon completion, the project will be capable of producing 5 GWh of semi-solid-state battery PACK energy storage containers annually.

According to the plan, the project will complete its factory renovation in November, and progressively advance the arrival and commissioning of production equipment, striving for official production by the end of 2026.

Geesun Intelligent Signs RMB 2 Billion Equipment Manufacturing Base Project

On September 12, a capital increase and capacity expansion project for the Geesun Intelligent equipment manufacturing base, with a total investment of RMB 2 billion, was officially signed in Zhaoqing New Area.

As the Phase II project of Geesun Intelligent's Zhaoqing base, it covers a planned area of approximately 160 mu (about 10.67 hectares). The project will build new factories, warehouses, office buildings, dormitories, staff canteens, and other supporting facilities. It will primarily be used for the production and delivery of new energy power battery manufacturing equipment, such as laser cutting machines, winding machines, integrated winding machines, and integrated stacking machines.

It is reported that the Phase I project of Geesun Intelligent's Zhaoqing base had already commenced production in 2025. Covering an area of about 160 mu, it primarily produces equipment such as electrode laser cutting machines and integrated winding machines. With the growth of orders, the Phase I capacity has become difficult to meet demand. This Phase II project will further expand the base's production space and equipment manufacturing capacity.

Namey Technology’s 1.5GWh Sodium-ion Battery Project Officially Enters Production

On September 16, the Bazhong base of Namey New Energy Technology (Bazhong) Co., Ltd. officially commenced production. The intelligent production line commissioned this time adopts the technological route of all-tab large cylindrical sodium-ion batteries.

Located in the Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park of the Bazhong Economic Development Zone in Sichuan Province, the project involves a total investment of approximately RMB 500 million. With a planned annual capacity of 1.5 GWh, it is primarily focused on the production of sodium-ion batteries.

During the event, Namey Technology also launched its "Najiu" 330Ah sodium-ion battery for energy storage and the 180Wh/kg "Naxing" anode-free sodium-ion battery products, and signed cooperation agreements with multiple supply chain enterprises and downstream customers.
