EnergyTrend has learned that recently, five companies including Guoke Energy, Chuanhong New Energy, LG Energy Solution (LGES), Tesla, and Jiangsu Dianlala have reached critical milestones in the capacity construction of their battery projects.
Annual 30GWh Battery Project Refreshes Progress
On August 12, the 110kV dedicated substation and supporting transmission line project for Phase I of Guoke Energy's (Lanzhou New Area) 30GWh annual capacity new energy battery production base was successfully energized, marking a critical breakthrough in the construction of Phase I of the Guoke Energy 30GWh new energy battery base.
It is reported that the Guoke Energy 30GWh new energy battery base project is located in the New Material Industrial Park of Lanzhou New Area, Gansu Province. With a total investment of 9 billion RMB, the project will be constructed in three phases, each with a capacity of 10GWh, ultimately forming an annual production capacity of 30GWh of new energy batteries.
Phase I involves an investment of 2.8 billion RMB and covers an area of 211 mu (approx. 34.8 acres). It plans to build 4 production lines, including two 314Ah lines and two 30Ah lines. Upon reaching full production, it will form an annual capacity of 10GWh for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) energy storage battery cells.
Chuanhong New Energy's Lithium Battery Production Base Sprints Towards Production
According to Longchang Media, on August 18, Sichuan Chuanhong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. held a move-in ceremony for its cell production equipment, officially entering the critical stage of equipment commissioning and sprinting towards production.
According to the introduction, the new lithium-ion battery Southwest production base project is invested and constructed by Chuanhong New Energy. With a total investment of 1.5 billion RMB and covering over 200 mu, it plans to build a new energy battery production line with an annual capacity of 10GWh, which is being steadily advanced in two phases.
Currently, the overall construction progress of the project has exceeded 95%. Information shows that Chuanhong New Energy was established in September 2025 with a registered capital of 100 million RMB, and its registered address is located in Longchang City, Neijiang City, Sichuan Province. The company's business scope covers battery manufacturing and sales, energy storage technical services, R&D and manufacturing of electronic special materials, and R&D of new material technologies.
LGES US Battery Factory Commences Production
According to foreign media reports, on August 18 local time, LG Energy Solution (LGES) announced that its brand-new battery factory in Lansing, Michigan, USA, had officially started production.
It is reported that this is LGES's seventh battery production base in North America. With a total investment of over 2 billion USD, the project will simultaneously produce energy storage and EV power batteries. Under full-load production, the annual battery capacity will exceed 35GWh.
The factory's products are divided into two main tracks: one is the production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, supplying grid-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) energy storage scenarios; the other is the production of high-energy-density nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) batteries, supplied exclusively to Toyota Motors.
Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory Updates
On August 18, the 6 millionth battery pack rolled off the production line at Tesla Giga Shanghai. It is understood that Tesla Giga Shanghai has achieved independent R&D and design of cell formulas and battery pack structures. The battery packs supply local vehicles while also being exported alongside the vehicles to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. As a core component of electric vehicles, the battery packs produced by this factory have been widely used in main models such as the Model 3 and Model Y.
Tesla Giga Shanghai signed the agreement to settle in the Lingang Special Area of Shanghai in 2018, started construction in 2019, and achieved production and delivery in the same year. At the end of July 2024, Tesla announced that its 10 millionth global electric drive system rolled off the line at Giga Shanghai. In August 2026, the factory completed the roll-off of its 6 millionth battery pack, while simultaneously supporting the construction of the Tesla Shanghai Megafactory to produce Megapack energy storage products.
Jiangsu Dianlala Signs 3.2 Billion RMB Framework Agreement
According to Nankang Release, on August 18, Nankang District and Jiangsu Dianlala held a cooperation signing ceremony. Jiangsu Dianlala is a core platform focusing on the mobile battery swapping and mobile energy storage track for electric heavy trucks, co-deploying commercial vehicle power replenishment infrastructure with Gotion High-tech.
The signed project will rely on the construction of the Nankang energy storage battery production line. Combined with the 3.2 billion RMB framework cooperation agreement, it will take the construction of battery swapping stations along logistics trunk lines and the establishment of a transportation cloud platform as key starting points to build an integrated smart logistics system.
