Recently, the energy storage market has continued to gain strong momentum in both contract wins and project construction. Sungrow and HiTHIUM have secured consecutive overseas energy storage orders; Sermatec and Senchu Group have seen new projects deployed; while Envision Energy and Guozhong Energy Storage were selected as developers for a 2.4 GWh standalone energy storage project in Wuhai, Inner Mongolia.
Sungrow Secures 606 MWh Energy Storage Order in Chile
Recently, Sungrow obtained a battery energy storage system (BESS) order from Verano Energy, an independent power producer (IPP) in Chile, to supply energy storage systems for its Observatorio project, which features a total capacity of 152 MW / 606 MWh.
Under the agreement, Sungrow will supply its PowerTitan 2 energy storage system for the Observatorio project. Located in Marchigüe, O’Higgins Region, Chile, the facility will operate as a hybrid plant paired with a 135 MW solar PV station and is expected to enter commercial operation in the first half of 2028.
Additionally, Sungrow will provide a 25-year Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) to guarantee operational availability, performance, and reliability throughout the system's service life.
HiTHIUM Signs 421 MWh BESS Supply Agreement in Australia
On August 12, HiTHIUM signed a BESS supply agreement with Global Power Generation (GPG), the international renewable energy generation subsidiary of Spain’s Naturgy Group.
According to the agreement, HiTHIUM will deliver a 421 MWh energy storage system for the Fraser Coast project in Queensland, Australia.
Utilizing a full-scenario integrated BESS solution, HiTHIUM will supply 84 units of liquid-cooled energy storage systems. The company will also provide comprehensive services including system design, manufacturing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), project delivery, grid-connection commissioning, technical support, and personnel training, covering major stages from initial design to grid-connected operation.
Sermatec Grid-Connects 20 MWh Energy Storage Project in Europe
Recently, Sermatec completed the commissioning and official grid connection of a 20 MWh standalone energy storage power plant in Eastern Europe.
The 20 MWh facility adopts Sermatec’s self-developed Xinghan series 5 MWh liquid-cooled containerized energy storage system, integrated with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.
The project was custom-adapted to local European grid standards and application demands. Featuring a flexible matching design between the Power Conversion System (PCS) and local transformers, the solution ensures high system performance while enhancing equipment compatibility.
Senchu Group Signs Agreement for 10.12 MWh Energy Storage Project
Recently, Senchu Group signed a cooperation agreement with Meile Group to advance a joint project featuring 17 MW of distributed solar PV and 5 MW / 10.12 MWh of energy storage.
This collaboration integrates renewable energy development with industrial manufacturing power demands, utilizing factory rooftop space for distributed PV generation paired with a commercial and industrial (C&I) user-side energy storage system.
Specifically, the 17 MW distributed PV project will mainly occupy the rooftops of Meile Group’s manufacturing plants, operating under the "self-generation for self-consumption with excess power fed into the grid" model. For the energy storage component, the parties simultaneously contracted for a 5 MW / 10.12 MWh storage system. The system will primarily perform peak shaving and valley filling via the PCS, while dynamically controlling transformer capacity demand based on factory load shifts to optimize energy structure and lower power costs for the enterprise.
Envision and Guozhong Energy Storage Selected for 2.4 GWh Storage Project in Wuhai
On August 13, the Energy Bureau of Wuda District in Wuhai City, Inner Mongolia, announced the selection results for project implementation entities under its 2026 re-organized solicitation for standalone new energy storage power stations. A total of 2 projects were selected, amounting to a combined scale of 600 MW / 2.4 GWh.
Among them, the Wuhai Jingyuan Jinhu 300 MW / 1,200 MWh Standalone Energy Storage Power Station Project will be implemented by Wuhai Jingyuan Energy Storage Co., Ltd., a enterprise affiliated with Envision Energy Co., Ltd.; while the Wuhai Guozhong Jinhu 300 MW / 1,200 MWh Standalone Energy Storage Power Station Project will be implemented by Wuhai Guozhong Energy Storage Co., Ltd.
