Recently, momentum in the energy storage market has continued to build, driven by ongoing order wins and project developments. Leading companies including CATL, Risen Energy, and Shaanxi EP Group Green Energy Co., Ltd. have secured a series of major energy storage contracts. At the same time, several grid-forming energy storage projects supplied by WeLion New Energy, Far East Energy Storage, and Star Charge have been successfully connected to the grid and put into operation.
CATL Secures 3 GWh Overseas Energy Storage Order
Global independent power producer (IPP) ContourGlobal recently announced a battery supply agreement with CATL. Under the contract, CATL will supply energy storage systems for ContourGlobal’s project pipeline in the UK, Greece, and Chile, totaling approximately 3 GWh.
Key project details include:
United Kingdom: The scope includes the 500 MW / 2,000 MWh Wallace energy storage project located in Scotland.
Greece: ContourGlobal has deployed an energy storage asset portfolio totaling approximately 500 MW / 2,000 MWh.
Chile: Its Victor Jara solar-plus-storage project is paired with a 200 MW / 1.3 GWh energy storage system featuring a 6.5-hour long-duration discharge capability.
Risen Energy Wins 10 MWh C&I Energy Storage Order
Risen Energy Co., Ltd. has signed a 2026 strategic cooperation agreement for 10 MWh of commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage cabinets with Dongguan Shengyu Energy Technology Co., Ltd.
Through this agreement, Shengyu Energy officially becomes Risen Energy’s authorized benchmark partner in Guangdong Province. Supported by original equipment manufacturing, technical assistance, and delivery guarantees, Shengyu Energy will deliver a reliable energy storage hardware foundation for manufacturing plants, industrial parks, and commercial complexes across Guangdong.
Green Energy Company Secures 3.6 GWh Equipment Supply Framework
Shaanxi Environmental Protection Group Green Energy Co., Ltd. ("Green Energy Company") has signed a 2027 framework agreement for energy storage equipment procurement with Tietou Energy (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., with an annual cooperative scale reaching 3.6 GWh.
Under the agreement, Green Energy Company will provide core energy storage equipment, system integration, and technical support. Tietou Energy will oversee project resource development, land acquisition, grid connection, and supporting guarantees across Ningxia, Shanxi, and Xinjiang. Together, the two companies will advance the phased rollout of the 3.6 GWh energy storage capacity.
Star Charge's 4 GWh Energy Storage Project Connects to the Grid
Two grid-forming energy storage power stations at the Dongsu Substation in Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia, have achieved full grid connection. Star Charge (Wanbang Star Charge Technology Co., Ltd.) supplied its self-developed, full-stack 5 MWh energy storage cabinets for the project, deploying 800 energy storage units to reach a total project capacity of 4 GWh.
Representing a total investment of approximately RMB 3 billion and covering about 420 mu (approx. 28 hectares), the station is a key new-type energy storage construction project in Inner Mongolia. Utilizing grid-forming lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology, the project is scheduled to enter full commercial operation by the end of August.
WeLion New Energy Ships Systems for 800 MWh Grid-Forming Project
On August 8, Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. ("WeLion New Energy") announced that system shipments for the Huajing Heshun 400 MW / 800 MWh grid-forming energy storage project in the Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone were recently completed, with the successful installation of the first storage unit.
Located in the Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone with a total investment of approximately RMB 1.15 billion, the project utilizes WeLion New Energy's proprietary Spower IV semi-solid-state battery system paired with an integrated converter-step-up PCS container, significantly enhancing system integration and operational reliability.
Far East Energy Storage Supplies 800 MWh Storage Project in Xinjiang
The Xinjiang Linuo 200 MW / 800 MWh grid-forming independent new-type energy storage project, constructed with the participation of Far East Energy Storage (a division of Far East Battery), was recently connected to the grid and put into operation.
The project features a total capacity of 200 MW / 800 MWh and utilizes Far East Energy Storage's PowerSTROM 6000 liquid-cooled container solution. It comprises 125 battery prefabricated containers and 32 integrated converter-step-up units—forming 32 distinct energy storage sub-units that connect to the collector station via eight 35 kV collection lines.
