Progress Updates on 7 Lithium Battery Energy Storage Projects Including WELION and Putailai New Energy Technology

EnergyTrend learned that recently, upstream and downstream projects in the lithium battery energy storage industry have been accelerating across multiple regions, involving seven projects from companies including WELION, Fanzai Liancheng Energy Storage, Autowell, VAPEL, Putailai New Energy Technology, and Zhongke Shinzoom, covering sub-sectors such as solid-state batteries, energy storage PACK production lines, and core lithium battery materials.

3GWh Solid-State Battery Pack Project Breaks Ground

According to "Qingyang Release," the 3GWh solid-state battery pack intelligent manufacturing and electric heavy-duty truck logistics industrial park project, jointly invested by Beijing WELION New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Guangdong Xinghan Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and Shaanxi Jiansheng Taimen Investment Co., Ltd., has recently commenced construction.

It is reported that the Qingyang solid-state battery pack intelligent manufacturing plant project is located in the Xifeng Industrial Park in Qingyang, Gansu Province, covering approximately 50 mu of land with an investment of RMB 600 million. The project adopts the world's leading solid-state battery pack intelligent manufacturing technology, with a planned annual production capacity of 3GWh of solid-state battery packs, divided into three product series: energy storage, vehicle-mounted, and household.

2GWh Energy Storage Production Line Sprinting Toward Commissioning

According to Fanzai Energy, the first-phase production line of the energy storage PACK and cabinet complete equipment project of Shandong Fanzai Liancheng Energy Storage Development Co., Ltd. is currently sprinting toward the commissioning milestone at full speed.

It is reported that Shandong Fanzai Liancheng Energy Storage Development Co., Ltd. is controlled by Shandong Fanzai New Energy Group Co., Ltd. The project is located in Rizhao, Shandong, with a total investment of RMB 500 million, planning to build four intelligent production lines. Upon full completion, it will achieve an annual production capacity of 10GWh of energy storage equipment.

Currently, the first-phase production line with a capacity of 2GWh has entered the critical commissioning phase, and the preparation work for production is steadily progressing.

Autowell's Energy Storage Turnkey Project Delivered

On July 28, Autowell announced that the energy storage turnkey project it is serving for a major energy and chemical enterprise is steadily advancing and being implemented in an orderly manner. Some production lines have been successfully delivered, and the remaining lines will be fully delivered by the end of 2026.

It is reported that Autowell provides customers with integrated intelligent manufacturing system solutions for energy storage module/PACK/container production lines. For 314Ah large-format cells, the module PACK production line achieves a cycle time of up to 40+ PPM; for large-format specifications such as 587/588, it can stably achieve efficient production of 20+ PPM. In terms of annual capacity, the module PACK production line has an annual capacity of 13GWh per line, and the supporting container assembly line is expected to have an annual capacity of over 50GWh+, capable of meeting the huge peak-shaving demands of large-scale projects.

VAPEL Plans to Build Energy Storage PACK Production Line

On July 23, VAPEL announced that it has approved its wholly-owned subsidiary Shenzhen VAPEL Digital Energy Co., Ltd. to invest RMB 10 million from its own funds to build an energy storage PACK production line, and authorized the general manager to adjust the investment amount within a range of 10% of the total investment.

It is reported that VAPEL Digital Energy, 100% held by VAPEL, was established in 2017 with a registered capital of RMB 60 million, focusing on high-frequency switching power supply manufacturing, with main businesses including energy storage equipment, battery charge-discharge management and control equipment, charging piles, charging cabinets, and charging terminals. According to the announcement, the energy storage PACK production line is being constructed in the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone and is expected to complete commissioning by the end of September 2026.

RMB 2 Billion Energy Storage Manufacturing Project Completes Environmental Impact Assessment

According to Alxa High-tech Zone News, the Inner Mongolia Haishan Energy Storage 15GW intelligent energy storage manufacturing industrial project has recently completed environmental impact assessment approval. It is reported that the project has a total investment of RMB 2 billion and, upon completion, will form an annual production capacity of 15GW of lithium-ion battery energy storage system integration.

The project covers approximately 148 mu of land, focusing on the core links of lithium-ion energy storage batteries and energy storage system integration, creating a modern intelligent energy storage manufacturing base integrating cell production, energy storage module assembly, and finished product warehousing. After commissioning, the project will mass-produce energy storage batteries and complete energy storage equipment, with products widely applied in areas such as wind and solar new energy integration, grid peak shaving, and commercial and industrial energy storage.

10 Billion m² Lithium Battery Separator Production Base Under Construction

On July 25, Putailai New Energy Technology disclosed that it will invest an additional RMB 5.6 billion in Qionglai, Chengdu, to build a new lithium-ion battery separator project with an annual capacity of 7.2 billion square meters. The project has already commenced construction in the second quarter of this year and is planned to be fully completed and put into operation in the first quarter of 2028.

It is reported that the project is divided into two sub-projects. Sub-project 1 has a total investment of RMB 2.6 billion, with Putailai New Energy Technology's wholly-owned subsidiary Sichuan Zhuochun expanding 8 base film production lines to form an annual capacity of 3.2 billion square meters of lithium battery separators. Sub-project 2 has a total investment of RMB 3.0 billion, with Putailai New Energy Technology's newly established wholly-owned subsidiary Sichuan Gaoju in Qionglai building 8 base film production lines to form an annual capacity of 4.0 billion square meters of lithium battery separators.

Upon completion and commissioning of the project, the total separator production capacity of Putailai New Energy Technology's Qionglai base will exceed 10 billion square meters, making it the largest lithium battery separator production base in China.

300,000 Tons/Year Anode Material Project Progress Update

Recently, the Luzhou Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau published a public notice on the environmental impact assessment document for the 300,000 tons/year lithium battery anode material integrated construction project, which is proposed for approval on July 22, 2026. According to the public notice, the project's construction entity is Sichuan Zhongke Shinzoom Graphite Co., Ltd., primarily building an integrated production line and supporting facilities with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons of lithium battery anode materials.

According to information previously released by Zhongke Electric, the project has a planned total investment of approximately RMB 7 billion, implemented in two phases. The first phase involves the construction of a production base with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons of lithium-ion battery anode materials, with a planned investment of approximately RMB 4.7 billion. The second phase involves the construction of a production base with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons of lithium-ion battery anode materials, with a planned investment of approximately RMB 2.3 billion.
