On June 28, during the 2026 Saudi Water Week, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (LONGi Green Energy) signed a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Water Authority (SWA). Aligned with Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030," the two parties will collaborate in areas including clean energy applications for water infrastructure, digital transformation, industrial localization, and talent cultivation.
According to the MoU, the two sides will focus on promoting renewable energy integration and digital upgrades across the entire process of water production, treatment, and distribution. The cooperation primarily encompasses four key areas:
First, deploying photovoltaic (PV) systems across water facilities, while exploring green hydrogen and energy storage solutions.
Second, utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize the operation of water systems, alongside building intelligent monitoring and data analysis platforms.
Third, driving technology localization and supply chain system development, while evaluating opportunities for local manufacturing partnerships.
Fourth, conducting professional talent training, joint research and development (R&D), and the construction of demonstration projects.
Prior to this partnership, LONGi had already participated in the development of several local solar projects. In 2025, LONGi partnered with the SDC Solar Solutions Group to construct an agrivoltaic distributed solar project. The project utilized LONGi's Hi-MO X10 modules, featuring adaptive designs specifically tailored to withstand Saudi Arabia’s harsh environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, high dust, and intense solar radiation. These successful practices provide replicable and scalable technical blueprints and practical implementation experience for the current partnership with the Saudi Water Authority.
This collaboration also aligns seamlessly with LONGi's current overseas business expansion and its strategic layout for solar-storage integration.
Recently, the company stated during an investor relations event that as global renewable energy installations continue to scale up, the pressure on grid absorption capacity is steadily rising, making solar-storage integration a critical direction for industry development. Consequently, the company is transitioning from a pure PV product provider into a solar-storage integrated system solution service provider, as well as a comprehensive green energy solution service provider.
Regarding its energy storage business, the company currently has no plans to enter battery cell manufacturing. Instead, it will partner with battery cell manufacturers to focus on delivering integrated solar-storage products and scenario-specific solutions.
In terms of market strategy, the company added that emerging markets such as the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America are experiencing rapid demand growth, driven by supportive energy transition policies, favorable natural resource endowments, and rising electricity demand. Moving forward, LONGi will continue to ramp up its product sales and service networks in these regions to drive the further expansion of its global business.
