28.2%! JA Solar Sets New Record for BC Cell Efficiency
2026-05-25 14:23

On May 24, JA Solar officially announced a major breakthrough in the HyperGen technology, which is being jointly developed with Golden Stone Energy. Tested by TÜV Rheinland, the BC (Back Contact) solar cells utilizing this technology achieved a certified efficiency result of 28.2%, setting a new record for BC cell efficiency.

According to information released by Golde Stone Energy, this innovation is based on HBC (Hybrid BC) technology. Building upon the foundation of standard BC cells, this technological route combines the traditional heterojunction passivation structure with a tunneling/polysilicon structure. By integrating the technical advantages of HJT and TOPCon, it achieves a perfect fusion of three major technologies: TOPCon, HJT, and BC. As a result, the solar cells boast higher conversion efficiency, lower production costs, a more streamlined manufacturing process, and more stable product performance.

The fact that the very first batch of HBC cells achieved a certified test result of 28.2% demonstrates that the HBC route not only holds outstanding potential for efficiency gains, but also exhibits significant engineering validation value at the project level.

Currently, numerous enterprises are accelerating the deployment of related production capacity. Companies such as LONGi Green Energy, TCL Zhonghuan, and Aiko Solar are all pushing forward with the mass production and industrial commercialization of BC products. Their goal is to seize a pioneering advantage in the highly competitive landscape of next-generation, high-efficiency solar cell technology.
