Recently, domestic companies such as CATL, BYD, and Far East have made significant breakthroughs in the overseas energy storage and battery markets.

CATL Signs Major Energy Storage Project in Australia

On April 30, CATL announced that it officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Zinfra, an Australian energy infrastructure service provider. The two parties will collaborate on the delivery, operation, and maintenance of large-scale battery energy storage systems in Australia.

Zinfra is primarily engaged in engineering, project management, and operations and maintenance within the power and natural gas sectors, with an annual project scale exceeding AUD 1.2 billion. Through this partnership, CATL plans to leverage Zinfra's local project channels and engineering delivery capabilities to optimize the local operation, maintenance, and service operations of its energy storage projects in Australia, thereby advancing the localization of its overseas business.

BYD's Power and Energy Storage Battery Installed Capacity Reaches 20.977 GWh in April

On May 5, BYD released its production and sales report for April 2026.

The announcement revealed that BYD's total installed capacity of power batteries and energy storage batteries for new energy vehicles in April 2026 was approximately 20.977 GWh, representing a 1.3% month-on-month decrease but a 67% year-on-year increase. The cumulative installed capacity from January to April 2026 totaled approximately 81.192 GWh, marking a 92% year-on-year growth.

Recently, BYD Energy Storage has achieved consecutive breakthroughs in overseas markets:

April 2026: The green energy grid project of Australian iron ore giant Fortescue announced that it will utilize BYD energy storage systems. The project will be equipped with 4 to 5 GWh of energy storage capacity.

March 2026: BYD Energy Storage partnered with Grenergy, a Spanish clean energy company, to provide a 2.6 GWh energy storage system for the Oasis solar and storage project in central Chile.

January 2026: A 500 MWh standalone battery energy storage system project, jointly constructed by BYD Energy Storage and ContourGlobal, officially commenced operations.

Far East Secures Over 2 Billion in Energy Storage and Lithium Battery Orders

On May 6, Far East released a briefing outlining the contract orders exceeding 10 million RMB won or signed by its subsidiaries in April 2026.

In the field of lithium batteries and energy storage systems, Far East Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. signed energy storage system orders exceeding 600 million RMB with European and Chinese clients. Concurrently, Jiangxi Far East Lithium Battery Co., Ltd. signed orders worth over 10 million RMB with North American clients.

According to data compiled by TrendForce EnergyTrend, since the beginning of 2026, Far East has disclosed a total of 17 energy storage and lithium battery orders exceeding the 10-million-RMB threshold. The cumulative value has surpassed 2 billion RMB, achieving a substantial increase in both order volume and financial value.
