2026-05-06 14:33

Recently, multiple key projects within China's domestic lithium battery and energy storage supply chain have ushered in a wave of new developments. Ranging from power and energy storage battery cells and solid-state batteries to core cathode and anode materials, the expansion and new construction projects of several companies have successively entered the stages of main structure topping-out, proposed investment, or environmental impact assessment (EIA).

CALB

51GWh Power Battery and Energy Storage Battery Project Welcomes New Progress

On May 4th, according to news from "Handan Economic Development Release," the CALB Power Battery and Energy Storage Battery System Handan Base—a key provincial construction project located in the Handan Economic and Technological Development Zone, Hebei Province—reached a critical milestone. With the final steel beam accurately positioned, the main structures of the M1 electrode workshop and the M2 cell workshop were successfully topped out, laying a solid foundation for subsequent equipment installation and production operations.

It is reported that the total investment for this project reaches 10 billion RMB, with a total construction area of approximately 390,000 square meters. The overall planning covers 9 individual buildings, including production areas, warehouse areas, and supporting facilities. Upon completion, it will become a leading green and intelligent battery production base in the region.

CALB Technology (Handan) Co., Ltd., a joint venture established by CALB and local state-owned enterprises in Handan, is responsible for its construction and operation. The registered capital of the joint venture reaches 4 billion RMB, with CALB holding a 60% stake and the Handan party holding 40%.

According to the construction plan, production equipment for the project is expected to arrive successively starting in late May. After installation and commissioning, it will officially go into production in September. Once fully completed, the project will achieve an annual production capacity of 51GWh for power and energy storage batteries.

Quanzhi New Materials

20,000-Ton Lithium Battery Anode Material Project Approval Public Notice

On April 28th, the 20,000-ton/year lithium battery anode material project (Phase I) of Jiangxi Quanzhi New Materials Co., Ltd., located in the Wanli Luoting Industrial Park, entered the public notice stage for intended environmental impact assessment (EIA) approval.

It is reported that the project is located within the Luoting Industrial Park, administered by the Wanli Bureau of Nanchang City. By leasing Building A from Jiangxi Huarui Supply Chain Co., Ltd. and purchasing external equipment, the company is establishing a semi-finished production line with an annual output of 20,000 tons of graphite anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.

The project will be constructed in two phases, with only Phase I being evaluated at this time. The main construction contents include a crushing and drying workshop, a milling workshop, a control room, a labor protection and maintenance room, a testing laboratory, a raw material warehouse, a dried material transfer warehouse, and a finished product warehouse.

Capchem

Investment in 10,000-Ton Lithium Bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (LiFSI) Renovation and Expansion Project

On April 28th, Shenzhen Capchem Technology Co., Ltd. issued an announcement stating its intention to invest in a renovation and expansion project for an annual output of 10,000 tons of lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (LiFSI) through its holding subsidiary, Hunan Fubang New Materials Co., Ltd. The project will be located in the Songmu Economic Development Zone, Shigu District, Hengyang City, Hunan Province. The total investment will not exceed 350 million RMB, with a construction period of no more than 2 years.

The project will be implemented in two phases, relying on the existing factory land of Hunan Fubang while acquiring an additional 55 mu (approx. 9 acres) of land for construction. Phase I involves renovation and expansion within the existing factory building, with plans to commence production in 2026, achieving an annual capacity of 3,000 tons. Phase II involves the construction of new production facilities and supporting infrastructure, with plans to commence production in 2027, achieving an annual capacity of 7,000 tons. Public utilities, environmental protection, safety, and warehousing auxiliary facilities will be built concurrently.

YONFER

Proposed Investment in 300,000-Ton Lithium Iron Phosphate Project

On April 28th, YONFER Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. released a foreign investment announcement detailing its plan to invest in and construct the YONFER Phosphorus-based New Energy and New Materials Project. The planned total investment is approximately 3 billion RMB. The chosen location is Dongbao District, Jingmen City, with a planned land area of about 700 mu (approx. 115 acres).

The project will be constructed in two phases to build a 300,000-ton lithium iron phosphate production line and supporting upstream facilities, such as a 200,000-ton/year iron phosphate plant. Phase I will invest 800 million RMB to build a 100,000-ton/year lithium iron phosphate project, which is set to begin production within 18 months of obtaining the construction permit. Phase II will be advanced in due course based on the operational status of Phase I and prevailing market factors.

Jinhong Technology

Solid-State Lithium-Ion Battery Project EIA Public Notice

On April 22nd, the solid-state lithium-ion battery project of Weihai Jinhong Technology Co., Ltd. entered the environmental impact assessment (EIA) public notice stage.

Settled at No. 765 Fenghuangshan Road, Yangting Town, Huancui District, Weihai City, the project has a planned total investment of 180 million RMB and will be constructed in two phases. Phase I occupies approximately 9.67 mu (approx. 1.6 acres), renovating a factory area of 6,444.22 square meters. It plans to purchase nearly 150 sets of equipment, including mixers, coaters, and roller presses. Utilizing new in-situ polymerization technology, it will build a solid-state lithium-ion battery production line with an annual capacity of 0.5GWh.
