Recently, capacity construction and overseas expansion layouts within the domestic and international energy storage industry have been intensively implemented. Huawei plans to advance the localized production of energy storage systems in Egypt. Multiple GWh-level smart manufacturing bases of companies such as HyperStrong, Sungrow, and Gotion High-tech have made substantial progress. Additionally, Jiangsu Fengye and Wuhan Yifei have signed a major contract for an 18GWh automated production line.
Huawei: Plans to Build Energy Storage System Factory in Egypt
Recently, according to foreign media reports, Huawei and AIS officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the localized production of grid-forming battery energy storage systems in Egypt.
The two parties will primarily focus on in-depth cooperation across the following three major dimensions:
Establish a local manufacturing base: Both parties will jointly explore and promote investments to build an advanced localized manufacturing factory for energy storage equipment in Egypt, aiming to enhance local production capacity.
Localization of key components: They are committed to achieving the localized production of core components for grid-forming battery energy storage systems, gradually perfecting Egypt's local green energy supply chain.
Cultivate professional and technical talent: The two sides will carry out specialized training and cooperation in the fields of energy storage and digital energy. This aims to cultivate high-quality, technically proficient local engineering and R&D talent to empower long-term development.
HyperStrong: Equipment Rolls Off Production Line at Phase II of Inner Mongolia Green Smart Manufacturing Base
On April 18, the energy storage system integration equipment for the second phase of Inner Mongolia HyperStrong Technology Co., Ltd.'s green smart manufacturing base officially rolled off the production line. The project commenced in February this year, with equipment installation and commissioning taking place in March, spanning a construction period of approximately two months.
This project mainly involves the construction of a 20GWh energy storage system integration equipment production line. It is equipped with a fully automated, entire-process production line covering cells, modules, Pack/CTP, and containers. Furthermore, it utilizes a self-developed artificial intelligence big data platform to manage and control the production process.
Sungrow: New Progress Achieved at Northern Headquarters New Energy Manufacturing Base Project
On April 18, the Sungrow Northern Headquarters New Energy Manufacturing Base project, located in the Jiuyuan District, was also advancing its construction.
Currently, the construction of the energy storage equipment yard and the foundation of Factory Building #1 for the first phase of the project has been completed, with full completion and operation expected by the end of 2026.
The project is being constructed in two phases: Phase I plans for an annual output of 5GW of inverter systems and 2GWh of energy storage equipment; Phase II plans to add 5GW of inverter systems, 3GWh of energy storage equipment, and 2GW of hydrogen production systems.
In terms of product planning, the project will primarily produce photovoltaic inverters that adopt a "1+X" modular architecture and support functions such as online hot-swapping of faulty modules and black start capabilities. It will also produce energy storage system equipment utilizing 684Ah+ cells, featuring a single-container capacity of 12.5MWh and a system round-trip efficiency of 93.5%.
Gotion High-tech: Co-invests 2.3 Billion Yuan to Build a 20GWh Lithium Battery Smart Manufacturing Base
Recently, Gotion High-tech, Xinzhi Heneng, and Jiangsu Gotion signed a capital increase agreement and supplementary agreement in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Gotion High-tech and Xinzhi Heneng plan to jointly invest in Jiangsu Gotion to support the construction of its "New Lithium-Ion Battery (20GWh) Smart Manufacturing Base Project."
The project will be constructed in phases, with a planned construction period of approximately 24 months from the commencement date. Regarding the capital increase amount, Gotion High-tech will invest 300 million yuan across two phases, while Xinzhi Heneng will invest 2 billion yuan across two phases. Of this, 1,536,064,907 yuan invested by Xinzhi Heneng will be included in the registered capital of Jiangsu Gotion, and 463,935,093 yuan will be included in the target company's capital reserve.
Jiangsu Fengye: Signs 18GWh Energy Storage Production Line Equipment Contract with Wuhan Yifei
On April 19, Jiangsu Fengye Environmental Technology Group and Wuhan Yifei Laser Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony, officially signing a project contract for an 18GWh energy storage cell PACK + energy storage integrated assembly production line.
The project will adopt Yifei Laser's 20PPM high-speed module PACK + energy storage system integration production line. It will synchronously build an intelligent vertical warehouse logistics system, forming a closed-loop operation of fully automated and intelligent production covering cell processing, PACK assembly, container integration, testing, and transfer. It can accommodate multiple mainstream energy storage cells such as 314Ah, 587Ah, and 600Ah+, meeting the diverse needs of customers.
