Multiple projects in the battery and energy storage sector have recently made new progress. Among them, the construction of phase two of the Envision AESC Yichang Super Factory's large-capacity energy storage project has officially commenced; in terms of advancing new battery technologies, Ping'an New Energy's all-solid-state battery pilot production line has been completed and put into operation, and Zhiyuan Nake's 1GWh solid-state sodium-ion battery production line project has also been successfully signed and settled.
Envision AESC: Construction Commences on Phase Two of the Yichang Super Factory Project
On April 23, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for phase two of the Envision AESC Yichang Super Factory project.
It is reported that the phase two project plans a production capacity of 60GWh for the new generation of energy storage battery cells and 60GWh for AI energy storage systems, which is expected to be fully operational by 2027. Combined with the 40GWh phase one project launched in October 2025, the total planned capacity of the Yichang base will reach 100GWh, making it one of the world's largest single energy storage production bases.
The phase two project will continue the technological route of phase one, focusing primarily on large-capacity energy storage battery cells of 700Ah and above. According to previously disclosed information, Envision has already been developing 790Ah prismatic wound battery cells with an energy density exceeding 440Wh/L, a cycle life of 15,000 cycles, and a calendar life of 30 years. It is scheduled to be the first to enter mass production in Yichang in July 2026.
Ping'an New Energy: Mass-Producible All-Solid-State Battery Pilot Line Put into Operation
On April 20, Guangdong Ping'an New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. announced that the country's first mass-producible all-solid-state battery pilot line built by the company has been officially completed and put into use. This pilot line is a physical production line equipped with complete process conditions and can achieve continuous and stable operation, distinguishing it from demonstration lines at the laboratory stage.
In the next step, the enterprise will continue to carry out research and development on all-solid-state battery technology, rely on the pilot line platform to promote the transformation of technological achievements, and drive the gradual realization of the marketization and large-scale application of all-solid-state batteries.
Zhiyuan Nake: 1GWh Sodium Battery Production Line Project Signed
On April 10, Zhejiang Zhiyuan Nake Energy Technology Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the government of the Bayan Obo Mining District in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia, to jointly advance a 1GWh sodium battery production line project.
Zhiyuan Nake stated that the first phase of the 1GWh sodium battery production line project located in Bayan Obo focuses on the production and manufacturing of high-performance solid-state sodium-ion batteries. This signing marks a crucial stage for the company as it transitions from technological R&D reserves to mass production preparation, production line implementation, and a national capacity layout.
