Recently, several companies, including Jiangsu Zenergy Battery Technologies Group Co., Ltd., Brunp Recycling, BASF, CATL, and Zhirui New Energy, have successively announced their latest industrial developments. Their intensive project layouts cover multiple key sectors, such as large-capacity long-duration energy storage, core materials for sodium-ion batteries, advanced silicon-carbon anodes, and smart battery manufacturing bases.
Zenergy: 50GWh Long-Duration Energy Storage Smart Manufacturing Project Settles in Suzhou
On March 17, according to "Suzhou Fabu" (Suzhou Release), Jiangsu Zenergy Battery Technologies Group Co., Ltd. officially signed an agreement to locate its 50GWh long-duration energy storage smart manufacturing project in Suzhou.
This newly contracted intelligent flexible manufacturing base project has a total investment of 10 billion yuan. It primarily focuses on the new generation of large-capacity, long-duration energy storage products. The core product is the 588Ah high-capacity battery cell, which can meet the demand for 2 to 8 hours of energy storage. Simultaneously, it is compatible with the next generation of larger-capacity, long-duration energy storage cells, with storage durations extending up to 4 to 12 hours. This perfectly aligns with the development needs of long-duration energy storage, a core growth direction of the energy storage industry.
Its products are not only suitable for mainstream energy storage application scenarios such as long-duration energy storage, computing centers, and decentralized power supply models, but also cater to the usage needs of various fields including new energy vehicles, electric passenger aircraft, humanoid robots, and electric vessels, boasting a broad scope of application.
Furthermore, this production line will deeply integrate the company's "AI + Manufacturing" strategic concept. Through the profound combination of artificial intelligence technology and manufacturing, and relying on flexible production lines to build a novel battery manufacturing system, it will enhance production efficiency while ensuring product quality.
BASF and Xingkong Sodium Battery Collaborate: Focusing on R&D of Core Sodium Battery Materials
On March 16, BASF (China) Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Xingkong Sodium Battery Co., Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The two parties will focus on the research and development of core sodium-ion battery materials, such as battery cells and PACK modules, accelerating the construction of a complete sodium-ion battery industry chain in the Dazhou Eastern Economic Development Zone.
According to the plan, both parties will combine BASF's profound expertise in material science with Xingkong Sodium Battery's advantages in production and research to jointly break through key technical bottlenecks, such as bamboo charcoal anodes and Prussian blue cathodes. This aims to comprehensively improve the overall performance, safety, and cost competitiveness of sodium battery products.
Brunp Recycling: New Advanced Battery Material Project Lands in Yichang
On March 14, Brunp Recycling signed a cooperation agreement for the Brunp Advanced Battery Material Project with the Yichang Municipal People's Government of Hubei Province and the Management Committee of the Yichang High-Tech Zone.
Under the agreement, Brunp Recycling will make additional investments in Yichang to map out new material projects for the next generation of lithium batteries, such as iron phosphate. This signing marks a new stage of cooperation between the two sides in the fields of new energy battery materials and recycling, which will further expand the scale of the city's new energy and new materials industry.
It is reported that Brunp Recycling, founded in 2005, covers three major integrated business segments: battery recycling, phosphorus materials, and nickel-cobalt materials. It is a holding subsidiary of CATL, a leading global battery company.
CATL: Jinchui Battery Base Project is in Full Swing
According to "Dameng Jiaocheng," the CATL New Energy Battery Base Project (Jinchui Phase I), located in Badu Town, Jiaocheng District, Ningde City, Fujian Province, is currently undergoing intensive construction.
It is understood that the Jinchui Phase I project has a total investment of approximately 2 billion yuan and covers an area of about 900 mu. It plans to build approximately 370,000 square meters of standardized smart manufacturing workshops for new energy batteries along with supporting subsidiary facilities. Once completed, it will become an important production base for CATL in Jiaocheng District.
An on-site manager introduced that the factory land is scheduled to be delivered by the end of April 2026. Meanwhile, the project's retaining wall engineering has been completed ahead of schedule, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction of the main structure.
Zhirui New Energy: GWh-Level Advanced Energy Storage Carbon Material Smart Manufacturing Base Settles in Ningbo
Recently, the signing ceremony for Zhirui New Energy's GWh-level advanced energy storage carbon material smart manufacturing base project was successfully held at the Ningbo Bay Area Group.
It is reported that the project's investor, Ningbo Zhirui New Energy Materials Co., Ltd., is a technology-driven enterprise focusing on the research and development of core materials for lithium batteries. Its products are widely applied in high-end battery fields such as electric vehicles, low-altitude equipment, and humanoid robots.
The project involves a total investment of 120 million yuan and plans to build a thousand-ton-level silicon-carbon anode production line. Once it reaches full production capacity, the estimated annual output value will be about 300 million yuan.
