Seven Giants Including Tesla and Google Launch Alliance for Deep Synergy Between Energy Storage and Computing Power & Electricity

According to EnergyTrend, on March 10 local time, seven enterprises—led by Tesla and Google, alongside Carrier, SPAN, Sparkfund, Renew Home, and Verrus—officially established the "Utilize" Grid Utilization Alliance.

Comprising energy storage leaders, computing power giants, equipment manufacturers, and energy service providers, the alliance members form a full-chain closed loop from power generation, energy storage, and power distribution to power consumption. Their core goal is to address the explosive growth in power demand while reducing electricity costs through mature technologies such as energy storage, virtual power plants (VPPs), intelligent dispatching, and demand response.

On the supply side, Tesla provides batteries and photovoltaic equipment; SPAN offers intelligent distribution panels that adjust according to load changes; Carrier produces heat pump equipment; and Sparkfund and Renew Home are responsible for the construction of distributed energy resources. On the demand side, Google and Verrus leverage their massive server operation needs to provide practical application scenarios.

Furthermore, the alliance can leverage mature technologies like energy storage and virtual power plants to achieve peak shaving and valley filling, smooth grid load, integrate dispersed resources such as energy storage and household appliances for unified dispatching, and guide large power consumers to use electricity in a staggered manner through intelligent demand response.

These technologies have already been verified: Tesla’s virtual power plants in Texas and California can provide emergency peak regulation for the power grid, and Google’s data centers have applied intelligent power consumption dispatching.

The establishment of this alliance is expected to drive an explosion in demand and scenario expansion, marking a boom in areas such as energy storage and virtual power plants. It also sends a clear signal to the domestic industry: the synergy between computing power and electricity is the future trend, and revitalizing the existing grid capacity and improving utilization will become a core direction of the new power system.
