According to EnergyTrend, the energy storage sector has delivered frequent positive updates following the Spring Festival holiday. Energy China, ZOE Energy Storage, AlphaEss, Canadian Solar, Dongfang AutoControl, NR Electric, CLOU Electronics and other enterprises have secured supply contracts and implemented key energy storage projects across the globe.
These orders and projects cover regions including Africa, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East, spanning diversified scenarios such as standalone energy storage, industrial & commercial (I&C) energy storage, and wind-solar hybrid energy storage.Project updates are as follows:
Energy China Wins Bid for Africa’s Largest Standalone Energy Storage Project
On February 25, Energy China announced that its international arm, together with Zhejiang Thermal Power and Southwest Electric Power Design Institute, has won the bid for the Nefertiti 1000MWh Energy Storage Project in Benban, Egypt – Africa’s largest standalone energy storage project.
Located in the Benban Solar Park in Aswan, Egypt, the project leverages Energy China’s full industrial chain advantages in energy storage and is developed under the EPC general contracting model. Scope includes the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of a 220kV substation and energy storage plant, as well as the upgrade of an opposite substation. Upon completion, the project will provide 1GWh of power regulation capacity.
ZOE Energy Storage Secures I&C Energy Storage Orders in Mexico
On February 25, ZOE Energy Storage announced the signing of a new batch of industrial and commercial energy storage project orders in Mexico. The projects will adopt the Z BOXC PLUS series energy storage system specially developed by ZOE Energy Storage for I&C scenarios.
“We not only provide energy storage equipment, but also strive to become a trusted energy partner for our customers,” said a person in charge of ZOE Energy Storage’s international business. With huge potential in the Latin American market, this project will serve as an important milestone for the company’s accelerated regional expansion. ZOE Energy Storage has established local manufacturing plants in Europe and built an innovative channel cooperation model, with its globalization process steadily advancing.
AlphaEss Delivers 195MWh LargeScale Energy Storage Project
On February 24, AlphaEss announced the full completion of a 195MWh energy storage power station – from production to grid connection – in just 45 days. Located in Zhangbei County, Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, the project is a key supporting facility for a local 1GW wind power project.
The project is equipped with a 97.5MW/195MWh energy storage system, using 39 units of AlphaEss Yaofang 5000 liquid-cooled energy storage systems and 20 PCS all-in-one units. Through coordinated “wind power + energy storage” operation, it supports stable accommodation and secure grid integration of new energy.
Canadian Solar Sells 200MWh Energy Storage Project in the U.S.
On February 24, Canadian Solar announced that its energy subsidiary Recurrent Energy has sold the 200MWh Dunigan Energy Storage Project to Hunt Energy Network, L.L.C. Canadian Solar expects to recognize revenue related to this transaction in the first quarter of 2026.
Located in Maverick County, Texas, the project entered commercial operation in June 2025. Operating under a market-based model, it has become one of the top-performing standalone energy storage systems in the southern load zone of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).
Dongfang AutoControl Supplies 160MWh of GridConnected Energy Storage Projects
On February 24, Dongfang AutoControl announced the successful grid connection of two energy storage projects:
Gansu Huadian Ganzhou Pingshanhu 15MW/60MWh Energy Storage Project, fully supplied by Dongfang AutoControl. The system is tailored to local wind power characteristics, enabling peak shaving, valley filling, and frequency regulation.
Xinjiang Huadian Wenquan County 50MW/100MWh Wind-Supported Energy Storage Project, also supported by Dongfang AutoControl’s integrated energy storage solutions and key technologies.
Professional solutions ensure safe, stable and efficient coordination between the energy storage system and the 500MW wind farm.
1858MWh Canadian Energy Storage Project Secures Financing
According to Potentia, the large-scale Skyview 2 energy storage system under development in Ontario, Canada, has recently closed financing of approximately CAD 542 million. Canadian Solar e-Storage will supply the battery systems for the project.
Skyview 2 is co-owned by Power Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Partnership (PSEIP) and the Algonquin community of Pikwàkanagàn, and developed by Potentia Renewables.
With a capacity of 411MW/1858MWh and 4-hour continuous discharge, it will become Canada’s largest single-unit energy storage system upon completion.
NR Electric Supplies 2GWh Saudi Energy Storage Project
On February 9, the Saudi Bisha 500MW/2000MWh Energy Storage Project, equipped with NR Electric solutions, completed a black-start test, setting a new world record for the largestcapacity energy storage power station performing grid black-start.
This is also Saudi Arabia’s first black-start test for a 500MW energy storage plant. The project adopts NR Electric’s 3S (PCS + PMS + EMS) integrated solution on the AC side, including nearly 500 PCS units. It supports power regulation, primary frequency regulation, dynamic voltage regulation, black-start, and strong/weak grid-adaptive grid-forming functions.
CLOU Electronics Completes 10MWh SolarStorage Project in North Macedonia
CLOU Electronics recently achieved grid connection for a 5MW/10MWh integrated solarstorage power station in North Macedonia. The project uses a fully self-developed BESS + PCS + EMS integrated solution, with on-site commissioning and grid connection completed within two weeks after equipment arrival.
This marks CLOU’s first grid-connected project in Europe using centralized products. Its Aqua-C2.5 large-scale ground-mounted liquid-cooled energy storage system has been widely deployed globally.
As a key part of Midea Group’s energy strategy, CLOU Electronics continues to accelerate its global expansion. To date, its total contracted capacity in Europe has exceeded 1.5GWh, with large-scale energy storage projects covering North Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and other countries.
