Recently, Chinese energy storage enterprises have made successive strides in international markets. Cornex New Energy and Yotai (Yongtai Digital Energy) have secured substantial energy storage orders in the Middle East and Europe, respectively.

  1. Cornex New Energy Wins 5.5GWh Order in Saudi Arabia

On February 3, Cornex New Energy officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement for energy storage with Saudi-based Al Rajhi Electrical and Shanghai Greengrid (GREENGRID) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Under the agreement, serving as Al Rajhi Electrical’s first Chinese strategic partner in the energy storage sector, Cornex will leverage its R&D capabilities and large-scale manufacturing advantages in lithium batteries. The company will provide advanced energy storage products and comprehensive technical support to facilitate Al Rajhi Electrical's establishment of local manufacturing facilities in Saudi Arabia. Over the next three years, Cornex is set to supply a total of 5.5GWh of energy storage products to support localized production and project construction across the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Shanghai Greengrid will act as the critical strategic link and platform support for this tripartite cooperation. It will be deeply involved in the entire lifecycle of the energy storage projects—ranging from supply chain organization and cross-border coordination to localized implementation—providing systemic assurance for the deployment of the energy storage industry in the Middle East.

  1. Yotai Secures 270MWh Energy Storage Order in Romania

On February 2, Yotai (Yongtai Digital Energy) formally announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Romanian energy group Metropolitan Energy SRL in Bucharest. The partnership aims to construct a 135MW/270MWh independent energy storage project.

According to the terms of the agreement, the project will be delivered in two phases. Yotai will provide a comprehensive, customized solution for independent energy storage. The core hardware includes its proprietary Ener Hexon® Aurora 5015 liquid-cooled battery energy storage system (BESS), integrated booster and converter cabins, and a 110kV booster station.

Once operational, the project will primarily facilitate millisecond-level grid frequency regulation, thereby enhancing the regional grid's ability to absorb renewable energy and improving power supply stability.

Chen Shuo, President of Yotai, stated that this signing marks a pivotal step in the company's expansion into the European market. To enhance delivery and operation & maintenance (O&M) efficiency, Yotai plans to establish regional service centers and warehousing hubs in Romania, the Netherlands, and Kenya.
