On December 31, positive news emerged simultaneously from both upstream and downstream segments of the energy storage industry chain.
On the system integration side, BYD was shortlisted as the leading candidate for a large-scale energy storage system equipment procurement project by PowerChina. On the battery cell side, Hithium Energy won a bid for the procurement of large-capacity battery cells by China Electric Equipment Group.
BYD Shortlisted for PowerChina’s Energy Storage System Equipment Procurement
On December 31, the bid candidate announcement was released for the energy storage system equipment procurement project of PowerChina Handan Jiantou New Energy, covering the Quzhou County 400 MW project and the Cheng’an County 450 MW project.
According to the announcement, BYD was named the first-ranked bid candidate. China Railway Materials Group was listed as the second-ranked candidate, while Hebei Huijin Group was the third-ranked candidate.
Hithium Energy Wins China Electric Equipment Group’s Large-Capacity Cell Procurement
Also on December 31, China Electric Equipment Group Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. released the results of its framework procurement for large-capacity lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells. Hithium Energy was among the successful bidders.
The announcement shows that a total of eight suppliers were shortlisted, namely CATL, EVE Energy, Chn Energy, REPT Battero, Hithium Energy, Pengcheng Infinite, Sunwoda, and CALB.
Previously, on December 10, China Electric Equipment Group Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. issued a procurement notice for large-capacity LFP battery cells, stating that the procurement would adopt a model combining “framework shortlisting plus invitation-based negotiation, inquiry, or competitive bidding,” with centralized procurement targeting battery cells of 314 Ah and above.
It is reported that the project construction entities include Shandong Electric Power Times Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Xuchang XJ Electric Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., and Pinggao Group Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., all of which are subsidiaries of China Electric Equipment Group Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd.
