In the global pursuit of net-zero emissions and the transition to renewable energy,photovoltaic(PV)technology has become a cornerstone of Taiwan’s green economy.To motivate domestic companies to continually advance and produce high-value products,while enhancing the international competitiveness and image of Taiwan's PV products with respect to quality,the Energy Administration under the Ministry of Economic Affairs established the prestigious Taiwan Excellent PV Award in 2013.This highest industry honor represents the pinnacle of Taiwan’s PV standards and guarantees exceptional quality,efficiency,and long-term reliability.
Leading the Future:Exceptional Achievements Based on Rigorous Standards
This year(2025),the selection results for the 13th Annual Taiwan Excellent PV Award have been officially announced.The award-winning products,which have passed multiple stringent tests,demonstrate absolute excellence in quality and reliability.The evaluation criteria for this year’s Taiwan Excellent PV Award not only adhered to the latest and highest standards set by the International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC)but also took into account Taiwan’s unique climatic characteristics of high temperature,high humidity,and frequent typhoons,thus establishing highly challenging and stringent testing conditions.
Revolutionizing Standards:Extensively Enhancing Environmental Resilience and Cybersecurity
This year’s Taiwan Excellent PV Award focuses on significantly improving products’durability in harsh conditions and their cybersecurity mechanisms:
●Modules and Cells:Operating Extreme Environments and Undergoing Rigorous Testing
○Ultraviolet-induced degradation(UVID)was added as a new evaluation criterion,requiring modules to show no more than 5%power degradation after exposure to 120 kWh/m²of ultraviolet irradiation.
○The standard for the static mechanical load test have been raised to±5400 Pa to simulate extreme wind pressures,such as those experienced during typhoons,thus ensuring the structural integrity and long-term operational stability of the modules.
○Only mainstream N-type cells from the international market are accepted for evaluation,with the conversion efficiency threshold raised to≥24.5%.
●Inverters:Bolstering Cybersecurity for the Digital Energy Era
○In addition to environmental durability tests like the damp-heat cycling test,cybersecurity requirements have been included for the first time.Products must now have the capability to defend against malicious intrusions and protect user data,securing the safety and stability of the domestic power infrastructure.
