2025-08-11 15:32

On August 4, it was reported that KAN Battery’s 3GWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) energy storage battery project is in the final stage of equipment commissioning, pushing toward completion and acceptance.

With a total investment of RMB 1.1 billion, the project is located in Suichang Economic Development Zone, Zhejiang Province, and is being built by KAN Battery Co., Ltd. It adopts state-of-the-art equipment, processes, and management systems, achieving internationally advanced levels of digitalization, intelligence, and automation—greatly enhancing manufacturing precision and production efficiency. The project is being developed in two phases and, once fully operational, is expected to generate annual output value of RMB 2 billion and contribute RMB 119 million in new tax revenue.

Founded in 1999 as Zhejiang Kaien Battery Co., Ltd., KAN Battery specializes in the production and R&D of various rechargeable batteries, including nickel-metal hydride batteries, cylindrical lithium-ion batteries, and LFP prismatic batteries. Its lithium-ion product portfolio spans cylindrical, prismatic aluminum shell, and polymer types, widely used in personal care devices, small appliances, power tools, two-wheelers, forklifts, and energy storage applications.

In December 2024, KAN Battery officially inaugurated its new 3GWh LFP energy storage battery plant in Suichang, marking its third production base in the county, alongside its cylindrical lithium battery facility and prismatic aluminum shell/polymer lithium battery plant. This enables the company to achieve large-scale, full-category lithium battery production.

KAN Battery also controls Hangzhou Kaige New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., which specializes in the development and manufacturing of BMS/EMS solutions, as well as battery systems for AGV/AMR warehouse robots, electric forklifts, household and commercial energy storage systems, RVs, marine vessels, UPS backup power, and telecom base stations.

According to company representatives, KAN Battery currently offers over 100 battery models and holds 46 patents in the 3C-specialized power battery segment, including 25 invention patents. Clients include well-known brands such as Midea, Xiaomi, Electrolux, and Philips. This year, the company launched a new sodium-ion battery line and began deep collaboration with intelligent robotics companies to develop customized batteries for robotic applications.

Notably, in November last year, KAN Battery partnered with Jiangxi Yongxing Special Steel New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Changxing Jucai Fuli Power Technology Co., Ltd., and Yifeng Xingyi Industrial Investment Development Co., Ltd., to establish Yuheng Yongxing Battery (Jiangxi) Co., Ltd. The new company has a registered capital of RMB 108 million, with a business scope covering battery manufacturing, energy storage technology services, charging pile sales, and advanced power electronics sales.

Among the partners, Jiangxi Yongxing Special Steel New Energy Technology is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yongxing Materials (002756); Changxing Jucai Fuli Power Technology is a joint venture between Tianli Lithium Energy (301152) and Tianhong Lithium Battery (873152); and Yifeng Xingyi Industrial Investment Development is a state-owned enterprise under Yifeng Xingyi Comprehensive Investment Group.
