On July 26, the on-site advancement meeting for the Dongying Times Zero-Carbon Industrial Park Project was held. The nation’s first 100% green power direct-supply zero-carbon industrial park officially broke ground in Dongying, Shandong.
The project is invested by CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited), with the core component of Phase I being a 40GWh lithium battery green manufacturing base, which is expected to be completed and put into operation next year.
In March this year, the Dongying Municipal Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with CATL to jointly build a zero-carbon city. The Dongying Municipal Government, Shengli Oilfield Company Limited, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), and CATL signed an agreement on cooperation in zero-carbon application scenarios. Additionally, the government of Dongying’s Kenli District signed an investment agreement with CATL for the lithium battery green intelligent manufacturing base, while relevant enterprises signed a memorandum of cooperation for industrial energy transformation.
According to the agreements, all parties will engage in in-depth collaboration focused on building a zero-carbon city, developing zero-carbon application scenarios, constructing a lithium battery green manufacturing base, and promoting industrial energy transformation. Together, they aim to establish the nation’s first demonstration-style zero-carbon industrial park powered by a high proportion of green energy. Phase I involves the construction of a 40GWh lithium battery green manufacturing project in Kenli District, with plans to initiate Phase II at an appropriate time, thereby creating a green industrial cluster covering the entire lithium battery supply chain.
