300MW/1.8GWh! Another Cross-Industry Company Plans a Major Energy Storage Project
2025-06-19 18:33

On June 18, Yongzhen Co., Ltd. (603381.SH), a leading enterprise in photovoltaic (PV) frame manufacturing, announced that its subsidiary Yongzhen Power (Baotou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yongzhen Baotou") plans to invest in the construction of the Baotou Energy Storage Power Station Project, with a total estimated investment of RMB 1.31 billion.

According to the announcement, Yongzhen will build a grid-side independent energy storage demonstration project in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, with a planned capacity of 300 MW/1.8 GWh. The project will be located in the northern area of National Highway 110, Wulanjisan Village and Wulanjier Village, Burhantu Town, Kundulun District, Baotou City. It falls within the site selection scope of the large-scale grid-side energy storage project in Burhantu, Baotou (planned capacity: 1,500 MW/9 GWh).

The site is near the Burhantu 500kV substation, covering approximately 193 mu (around 128,667 square meters). Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2025 and be completed and connected to the grid by December 31, 2025, with a total construction period of 7 months.

The project will utilize advanced cluster-level managed, string-type lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery systems, integrated with liquid cooling temperature control technology, a perfluorohexanone fire protection system, and an intelligent Battery Management System (BMS). The entire station is designed with a rated power of 300 MW, consisting of multiple 5MW/30MWh energy storage units.

Yongzhen stated in the announcement that this investment in a large-scale, grid-side, independent energy storage demonstration project marks a strategic extension downstream in the PV industry chain. It supports the integration of its core business with energy station system integration capabilities. The company aims to explore new growth engines, enter the energy storage sector, tap into new performance growth opportunities, and participate in a rapidly expanding market.

According to the “Notice on Accelerating the Construction of New-Type Energy Storage” issued by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Energy Bureau (Document No. 120 [2025] of Inner Mongolia Energy Power), once the project is connected to the grid in 2025, it will be eligible for a subsidy of RMB 0.35 per kilowatt-hour for a period of 10 years. This long-term compensation mechanism provides clear policy support and stable income expectations for project operation.
