According to Wechat Official Account @EnergyStorage001, Trina Storage, a subsidiary of Trina Solar, announced a cooperation with FlexGen, a leading American enterprise specializing in energy storage systems and energy management software. The two parties will jointly deliver a grid-scale battery energy storage system to Houston, Texas, in the United States.
The project is developed by SMT Energy, an independent power developer, with a capacity of 371 MWh. It adopts Trina Storage's Elementa King Kong 2 energy storage solution.
According to Trina Solar's 2024 annual report, in 2024, the company's energy storage installed capacity continued to exceed expectations, achieving a growth of over 100%. Trina Storage's battery cabins and system sales cover six major markets globally, with a cumulative shipment volume of over 10 GWh. In 2025, Trina Solar expects that the company's energy storage system business plans to achieve a shipment volume of 8-10 GWh.
The project adopts the Elementa King Kong 2 energy storage solution provided by Trina Storage, which has the advantages of safety and reliability, high integration, and efficient operation. It can significantly improve the system efficiency and reduce the cost per kilowatt-hour, providing a safeguard for the stable operation of the project throughout its entire life cycle. FlexGen will provide integration services and its core energy management software, HybridOS™, for this project. Through AI algorithms, it can achieve intelligent monitoring, fault prediction, and operation and maintenance optimization of the energy storage system, comprehensively improving the system operation efficiency, further ensuring the system stability and intelligent operation, and providing a strong guarantee for customers to maximize the long-term asset value.
It is worth mentioning that this project has successfully completed the financing loop and received participation and support from top international financial institutions such as Macquarie Group and KeyBank, which fully demonstrates the confidence of the international market in Trina Storage's energy storage solutions.
